Hi all, I'm contemplating doing a 1.8 conversion on my car. Which Vectra does the x18xe1 come out of? Noticed that some look different under the bonnet. Thinking the best way would be to buy a full running Vectra and strip it of good. Then get all ecu etc for it, then just scrap the shell
Wanting some info on what's needed to do the conversion. Is it the same mounts as a redtop conversion?
What about driveshafts? etc etc.
I know most of what to do with regards to fitting a redtop, but not much of an idea on the 1.8.
Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

Basically the X18XE1 is the engine with the cable throttle.
The engine (due to being a smallblock) mates to the standard Corsa gearbox thus the driveshafts etc is taken care of. Also uses the same engine mount as a small block Corsa.
DaveyLC's Corsa project thread covers it really!

Just had a quick scan through Davey's thread. Doesn't look that hard to do in all fairness. Dad seems to think we could do it easily. May be anothe 1.8 corsa on here soon!

I'd also like to know this tbh. I'd imagine they will be quick for a corsa, but obviously not as quick as a redtop or anything.

X18XE1 is cable driven and found in W/X/Y and some 51 plate vectra B's.

The closest estimation (in standard form) would be to look at the Corsa C 1.8 SRi spec on parkers. Should give you a good idea.
Though only difference would be gearbox used.

Ok, what gearbox would you recommend? I'd imagine the 1.4 box in mine would be pretty useless.? Or am I wrong? would 1.6 box be a better option?

Engine Size 1796 cc
Cylinders 4
0-60 mph 8.0 s
Power Output 123 bhp
Valves 16
Torque 165 Nm 122 lb-ft
Top Speed 126 mph
But this is based on the corsa C with the Z18XE engine so it will slightly differ to a corsa B with a X18XE1 in

The Corsa C weighs like two B's

Also a 1.4 gearbox will be fine, if anything quicker. Though a 1.6 box maybe a good future-proof option if you get into high tuning etc.
