Aren't they aimed to be used in work places?

Looking forward to hearing what it'll be exactly.
Small touchscreen tablet for internet stuff = cool
Book reader = not cool.

no
I think its going to be a big success, a potential market to tap into.
The only thing that will determine its success is the price.
If its too expensive, I think people will lean towards laptops/netbooks.
If its priced right and is a success, I think they'll make billions more from their app store.
Iphone 4G and OS 4.0 is supposedly going to be announced.
6pm our time.

I've been waiting for this for a while now however it'll have to be sub £400 to realistically tap into the netbook market

Same, if its pushing £500 or more it would have to be properly special.

I was fancying a netbook, but if Apple are doing something similar I'd rather have that coz I'm a fanboy.

Apple are the tits.
I won't be getting one even if they are reasonably priced but will be interesting to see what they have come up with.

It's been rumoured for a long time.
Also, it doesn't really matter what Apple bring out, how much it costs or how good it really is, they will sell bazillions as usual.

Not buying the whole "I'm going to sit in my living room with the tablet on my lap and surf the web" malarky. It's frustrating enough typing on the iPhone without buttons, nevermind on your lap with a massive screen.
As John said though, shame.

The bubble will eventually burst and people will be left with a load of nice looking paper weights.

Whats a laptop/netbook for then?
I want one because my computer is a desktop and I don't always want to sit at my desk to beat one off. Now I can maybe sit in the garden and jack off, maybe in the attic, in the basement. I will be able to wank anywhere. Awesome.

I think you'll find they wont be tapping into the netbook market.
I would assume netbook = cheap, I dont think the tablet will be cheap.
Plus bare in mind, this wont be a full OS like mac/windows where you can install what ever programs you please, its most likely going to be restricted to the app store, i.e no cd rom drive etc, completly different to the netbooks!

Im not sure. I think there is a market for this.
Its something I plan to buy myself.
I have an iphone and use it in the lounge alot, I cant be arsed to go on my PC or get my laptop out as its a PITA.
The tablet is going to be aimed at surfing the net with fun/useful apps. I think theres potentially a huge market for this.....

Netbooks dont have a CD Rom Drive.
I agree though, i cant see them competing with Netbooks as they wont be able/want to price it low enough. I can see it being £700+ and people will still buy it.
Also, im sure this isnt anything new, arent there similar 'tablets' already out there? Mind you it was the sun newspaper i read it in about 2 months ago

I can bet the price be in excess of £400 without a doubt.
Joe, they're going to be more fiddly to type on than a virgin in bed for the first time. Netbooks and laptops are completely different.
I'm eager to see what they've got lined up though.

Just a tad - talk is the price will be around £1000 mark!
Most people are not really going to use a tablet. We have quite a few work laptops which also function as tablets and are useful as a tablet for a few limited functions.
The big area i think they will be hitting is going to be the Education sector.
As for Iphone 4G announcements I doubt there will be anything on that - that will be reserved for the 28th June conferance but there is talk that the OS 4.0 might be beta or even released.

I'm confused, is it basically an iPhone in tablet form without the phone part (basically a big iPod Touch)? I'm guessing it won't have full blown OSX, just the iPhone OS?
Struggling a little to see where there is use for a device that can't do what a netbook can and is more expensive (most likely with it being Apple)
edit - if it had full blown OSX it'd be interesting..
