As far as I know, there won’t be a network selling the Nexus One. You will have to buy it from a new Google online store, and then you have to buy the Sim separate.

The phone is unlocked to all networks, and I hear prices will be from £470 and up.

Also there still isn’t a release date other than "next couple of months" and "Spring 2010"

Apparently Voda are doing upgrades to the Nexus One now (according to the Voda forums)...
As for buying new, you'll probably have to get it from Google directly which will probably come with a Voda plan. Although you can buy it sim-free now, it works out around £520/560 (inc duty/taxes) to get it shipped in from the states.

that is sales person BS, i do sales and device management, nexus isnt available directly through us, however its a possibility in the near future. im afriad that righ tnow, its all backroom politics with google that prevent the handset being sold direct through airtime providers.

however, due to the dismal sales already, i anticipate that google will realise that they have a better chance of selling the handset through networks, as the majority of customers will not pay £500 for a phone, then be forced to go onto a network specific price plan.

I was going to say, if you can get an iphone or similar on contract at a cost of £600 (£25 x 24 months), why on earth would you pay £500 for this, then have to organise your own data package at even more cost.

Yeh but you say dismal sales?

but they've sold I think 265,000 units so far..

@ £500 each

that's £132,000,000

I don't know how google gets per handset when sold through a mobile company?

I can't see the sales of it being fantastic who ever sells it. Basically it's still inferior to the iphone in a practical sense (yeah on paper things may look better, e.g. 1ghz etc)... Most of the market for the nexus one are iphone users who are passionate about their iphones.

What they're getting lucky with is people who are (and have been) anti iphone from day one... and now finally have seen a chance to own a phone almost as good as a iphone without being 'one of them iphone users'.

Guy who sits next to me at work was one of them, ended up getting a htc hero about 4 months back. Now regrets it big style.

He realises his phone is already well outdated and he's now gotta sit through a long contract before he can change his phone.

Nexus one was no where near as ground breaking as people had hoped, at best it's just a more drab iphone.

Expect iphone v4 in july to blow it out of the water.

incorrect. Its $530 so half your figures. also, google spent $55 million dollars in advertising.

and as an update, we will NOT be doing the handset directly through VFUK.

I doubt it will blow it out the water. I expect just the standard upgrades myself. Its spec will probably only be on a part with the Google phone.

I wouldn't listen to a word bubble says tbh, the Blackberry Storm was the greatest invention in the history of the human race 6 months ago and now it's a useless piece of shit the Storm 2 is out.

Oh and Vodafone WILL NEVER release the Nokia N900 on their network, Maemo is a fledgling platform they would never take a risk on.
