Really fancy one of these as my next car.

10k will pick up a 20k 1.6 petrol or a 30k 1.9/2.0 Diesel.

What's the 1.6 petrol like to live with? Once i've done 2,000 miles commuting per month, wouldn't mind an auto

Not after mega power or fantastic fuel consumption, just comfort

Get a mk5 Golf, it'll be cheaper and better spec'd more than likely.

1.9 would be a better choice for fuel consumption than the petrol. Its also a far better drive due to the torque imo.

Kind of want the badge tbh They also seem to hold value very welll.

Size is perfect as it kept in my mums garden and fits just right. Don't want anything too small and don't need anything to big either.

I'd not be a pussy about mileage and spend the same money on a better one than a 1.6.

Well, to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't be considering an A3 either.

Do you not find audi have seemingly removed suspension from alot of there modles

infact i know loads of people do as sniff petrol even wrote about it, a 8P A3 is far to hard even in the non sporting models

the a4 cab beeing the wost useless ive ever tried, non s line, on standard 17/a8" ride like youve wacked some £40 apex springs on them

s line just feels like there is no dampning what so ever, DRC eqiped cars are better, but then DRC has its own pitfalls anyway

A 1.6 petrol auto A3. Sounds like a gutless combo if I've ever heard one.

To be honest James I find them fine, my mum has an s-line a4 cab which drives fine considering the wheels etc. Mine is fine. I do find the newer ones firmer yeah but not all are like that.

You know me James, I just like to go against the grain sometimes

As said, i'm not after power just something that had enough grunt to overtake on the motorway.

Want something that's pretty and looks the part.

Never does the supermarket run, that's what company hacks are for. Mainly used to cruise around Wales at the weekend.

I'd prefer the diesel engine though as again will hold value a lot more. I never keep a car long enough for it to need engine work so a decent petrol is fine.

Would love an S-Line but too much cash to warrant for something that does a max of 4k a year.

I thought the suspension was soft when I first got mine. But then I did come from a lowered Corsa with 17 inch wheels on. The Sport has the worst suspension, it crashes over bumps then wobbles around.

S-line is firm but doesn't have the jelly wobble thankfully. Not tried an SE so don't know what that's like.

Avoid the 1.6 like the plague.

It's an underpowered petrol in a heavy car.

What John said. It'd frustate the hell out of me, its not a particularly good engine. The 1.4T is better if you want a small engine, at least it has a bit of go about it

1.9 is 105PS and I think only a 5 speed gearbox.
2.0 is 140PS (or 170) and 6 speed gearbox.

I don't understand the logic in wanting a low powered automatic A3 as a 4k mile per year weekend car personally but hey ho.

Thought you were getting a Type R in summer?

I'd give the A3 a miss, maybe unless it was a 3.2 Quattro with DSG.

Doing some contracting at weekends so fuel may become an issue with they Type R. Still want one though

Was looking at Subrau's but insurance is steep and they are old and a lot rotten.

Starting to see some cash now so new car soon for me
