Tut tut. Never do that. It may save you a few quid but not worth losing the claim privileges.

I dont understand how people are still getting this wrong First thing I always do before buying over the internet is get contact details. If they don't want to give them out, there's something dodgy going on and you can walk away.
They're not scammers as such, just taking advantage of peoples' extreme naivety. Treat every stranger as if they're out to rip you off and you'll stand a better chance of it not actually happening.

This only happens as buyers are too trusting, ask for pictures?address?all contact details? 9 out of 10 times if someone is scamming you they won't provide the above, in which case you don't buy.

Even if people give you an address, how do you know its theirs? You go round before you pay them, just to make sure?

Because at least it gives you more of a chance of actually having a succesful transaction. If you give someone the opportunity to scam you then it's more likely that it's going to happen.

Because if they're willing to give you one it's probably a good sign.
If you get an address, have a little search about on Google Map or something, check its a valid address, check the other details of the transaction match ie. other posts that the user has made tally up with it. Get a land line number and check that the area code matches. If you do all that and get had, you're unlucky.
If you dive in to a transaction without any of that and get had, you've been frankly naive and stupid.
The vast majority of people who get had off make no effort whatsoever to protect themselves. Do you remember the car being stripped in Birmingham? Pictures of a left hand drive car with Dutch number plates in the background of the photo. And people still sent money!

I did try and get involved but I wasn't at all clear what was going on, particularly if the arrangements change in the meantime.

we decided to give me half my money back (£20) and i would fix the bonnet as the rest of it was pukka mint lol.
quote: Originally posted by stantonio
anyway what is now happening with the bonnet as its basically scrap
So you agreed £20, then asked for £30. There's nothing in there about the condition of the bonnet before it was sent - I assume you have pictures? Your case is not particularly clear, hence me not really getting involved properly. I can really only assist people with what they want, and if you're not clear yourself what the problem is then I'm not about to be.

yer i get you mate.
to sum it up, i bought the bonnet for £40, it arrived with one corner bent (not his fault)
So we agree on £20 part refund to fix the damage, and he claims off DHL.
So i left it in its wrapping did not touch it until that was set in stone incase i was sending it back, so when i decided to crack on with fixxing it i pulled all the wrapping off it only to find it was stone chipped tofuck and rusty all along the front lip (the bonnet was stated as mint and very good condition)
And now he is not replying to any u2u's, he didnt send me any money on the date that he said (30th january)
And in the end i said i wasnted all my money back if not £30 because he messed me about and lyed and the bonnet is scrap basically.
Does this help ???
