Hi everyone, been on here years now and havent really done anything apart from browse the site so thought id put a post up of what i get upto in my spare time. Me and a friend of mine from here got ourselves a unit a couple of years back to do work on our cars we both did paint work at college and i did an apprenteship where i still work now. We found a unit localish to us which had a bit of potential so we decided to build a makeshift spraybooth, this was only really to do our own things in but we did a couple of jobs and it started paying our rent which is cost effective to us. We only really do this as a hobby at the weekends and after work as we both work full time but we turn out really good jobs to a good standard giving what we have to work with and can pretty much do anything paint wise. Ive just done a mk5 Golf one of my friends which was keyed on both sides so here are a few pics
There was Key marks on both front wings and both front doors with a few dints, so repaired them primed it, wet flatted, based up, blended then laquered. Once it had fully hardened flatted and polished both sides, job done!

We also do motorbikes I recently (well around a year ago) took my wheels off my R6 and polished the rim then painted the middles of the wheels the same colour as the bike

If you look at my garage under Impreza Type R, you will see I have fully repainted my own car too which is to a very high standard

its just the camera with it been my phone the car looks spot on its self even under false light were you normally have metamorism (or how ever you spell it)

hiya everyone i'm jamie the other half of paint worx heres some pictures of my cars that me and gordon have done this is my current car, its had a full respray in star silver and has had the roof, mirror covers and roof rails painted sapphire black

We normally charge around 30-40 per wheel depending on size or condition and what you actually want doing, weve even painted pin stripes on before and laquered the whole wheel so it doesnt leave a line

theres quite a bit of work involved when you rub the wheels down to paint them there are ridges where they are machined that you have to sand right out then go down the grades of paper till really fine to start polishing then paint the middles take quite a while to do.

I'm proper struggling to see any problems at all with the colour matches there :S Some people do know how to pick the peanuts out of shit.

good to see you making a go at it, its how i started in shed and now have my own bodyshop.
Bit of advice though.
mk5 golf door skins take about 10mins to remove (about 15 bolts round the edges)
and taking out handles and fitting new painted mouldings (rub strips) instead of painting over the lot can make a job look a thousand times better.
But obviously if the customer is aware that the lacquer will peel from the edges of things like handles and mouldings then thats their call.

the colour matches on the cars are spot on ive been doing this 8 years now aand if its not upto my standards it gets done till it is. The photos are taken by a mobile phone as its a lot easier. Rant over!
thanks for all the good comments peeps, i work painting trucks vans and coaches all day everyday so i enjoy doing cars on the side, its a lot easier lol. The lad whos the golf is, is in one of the pics and one of the other lads in the pics works as a bodyman at a well known car bodyshop he usually does the things i cant do, we were going to take the panels off but he didnt want too, so what the custommer says i will do. I generally dont like leaving mouldings or anything on.
The place we have got isnt the best but we make the most of it and have turned some great jobs out, like tomnova says youve got to start somewhere and here we are, getting some more pics up of some more work weve done, cheers all and thanks for the advise tom
