Help me choose
I cant decide on what to get. I have a 120gb iPod so MUST be an ipod unit, playing cds would be a nice extra but not a nessecity. I like the idea of being able to play iPod videos too so i can weatch music videos whilst being a taxi as i so frequently am waiting for people... So basicly fancy a screen. But the one i want is mega money
Ok heres the choices:
#1 (most likely to purchase)
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-ida-x305.html
#2 I like the look of this unit more as it is less round and can play cds
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-cda-117ri.html
#3 Screen number 1, ipod connectivity straight out of the box... No external LEd display tho :-/ So i.e looks like a screen even folded away which is bad to petential theives.
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-iva-d106r.html
#4 Similar screen but with LEd display and a nicer looking unit (IMO) but needs ipod connect box which is another £100

Exactly Brett THe 1st one posted is by far the cheapest. I cant help but think i should just get that and stop silly thoughts of spending £700 on a stereo

The only reason i wouldnt get 1. is if one day your ipod breaks or for some reason doesnt work, you would have to listen to the radio
Number 2.
Screens are cool, but they dont get their use, the novelty soon wears off and are a massive target for thieves.

I'd be wanting one I could remove the face from. I'd probably say 1 or 2. Although ideally I'd also want one that lit up orange to match the rest of the dash lighting as I'm fussy like that now!

Yes i forgot to mention that the UI for the iPod control is the best out of all of them as they have sliders etc and with nearly 30GB of music dcrolling with #1 for example is slow and tedious! (I used to have the older model)
But im tempted just to put up with it for the sole reason its cheaper

I wouldn't bother with the screen. Now you've only got a Clio no-one will want a lift etc.

Just make sure you get a detachable facia for the security - and a colour that matches the dash/centre console.
Mind you, I'm loving the stock stereo on the Punto and not having to remove it!

2nd i think
i had the 3rd one good but only bottom of the range alpine dvd player (didnt think the sound quality was as good as other alpines i've had), Still good but not as good as number 2 imo, simple but effective is always a win

Can the Clio somehow take a double din?
If so :

Dont think they can though can they? If so, number 1.

with the ipod interface its all controlled from the headunit
your looking in the righ places starting with alpine though
think in a clio the place for the screen is low down and even with just playing music it can be quite dazzling to drive with unless its on "sleep mode" ??? cant remember the right word for it

Yer Ive got one simular and searching through tracks is a bit of a pain. however I make playlists on itunes and just use them usually.
considered the 1st one myself a while back but didnt get it due to not been able to play CD's how ever I have only played a CD once so far since getting an ipod unit anyway
So for me no 1
