Is it possible to tell sarcasm from text?
I think you cannot and that it has to be spoken in a certain way with tone of voice, body lanuage etc?

yes, although certain ques that highlight sarcasm are obviously missing in text such as body language ect, theres still enough ques to pick up on in most situations for people to reconise when someone is being sarcastic.
of course a lot of those ques are down to how well you know the person, it becomes more difficult the further removed you are from the individual.

It depends what you're saying and the kind of person you are.
For example, it's perfectly normal for you to say "of course I want to have sex with a massive whale of a woman, shouting 'man the harpoooooons' whenever I penetrate her blowhole"...
However, a normal guy saying that could be interpreted as sarcasm, in that he's actually put off by things that are followed everywhere by Chinese fishing vessels...
