106's are far better looking cars. a lot less chav appeal to them than saxo's.

Wouldnt bother with a quicksilver.
I went from a 1.2 Nova to a quicksilver and to be honest the nova was a far better car!
Gearbox's
Noisy Engine's
clutches
Brakes are horrific. My nova had better standard brakes and they werent even servo assisted

Would prefer the quicksilver over the equivelent saxo model, I dont like the styling or interior of saxos. Only problem is that the quicksilver is exceedingly slow, bare minimum 106/saxo I would have is a 1.4 XSI.

If you're looking at quicksilver sort of spec level I'd go for the 106. The interiors in the lower spec saxos are minging!
Its true people are saying about the brakes. Christ I thought someone had cut the lines on my 106 when I first got in it

Aye, base spec brakes are pretty hellish, need GTI/VTS brakes at least. 306 GTi6 brakes are a great upgrade though, or 406 coupe brembo 4 pots if you want to splash out.

I would take a vtr over a quick silver for the preformance gain. Insurance shouldnt be too different.
Agree that the quicksilver is the better looking though
Although saxo will get you more car per £
Drives supercharged Tec with torque

I wouldn't bother with a Saxo/106 unless it was an XSi/Rallye/VTS/GTi.

106s cost more for no reason.
MK2 Saxo >>> 106.
Also, the 106 equivalent of the VTR (called XS) looks like a 1.1 so shit.

No.
XSI is S1, and have a Rallye engine, 105bhp iirc. (the 1.6 model not 1.4)
XS is S2 and has the same engine as a VTR (90 bhp).

I was thinking more in terms of it being a sportier model as is the VTR but neither being the top model.
