after my car being officially written off, ive been searching and searching for a new car. I still want a Turbo, and my eye has caught a few, but ive spotted a Vauxhall Gsi Turb on PH, price is a bit steep but i reckon i could get it for a few hundred less! anyone had any experiences with these, are they built well? are they generally all round good cars? what sort of problems should i look out for? any help would much be appreciated

As you have said that is expensive, 1952?

Parkers suggest just over 3k. I think I may have the wrong car.

Look out for smoke, thats the biggest thing.

Turbo's are weak
Header tanks crack

Check for general wear and tear

if the turbo shits its self is a good £500 repair. if your going to get a turbo car tbh you want to pay more than advised but make sure its all just had a service or parts replacing. a turbo should last easily over a year if treated right but you'll find most people selling a turbo car is getting rid of it for a reason.

problem is a car can still pass a MOT with a fucked turbo. its always the biggest problem is if the turbo is ok and its always a 50/50 chance

Isn't that underpriced?

My mate just sold his blue one for 5400.
I bought my blue one for 5800 last september.

or is it just blue ones that are more?

Love my car. In standard form it was very good and everything i needed. I bought mine right after a turbo replacement, its all down to how the car was looked after.

My SRI Turbo is still on its original turbo at 112k, they last if looked after. Ill still be ripping it off in favour of a VXR turbo though

My Zlet is on its 3rd turbo in 56k, header tank just replaced.

In the scheme of things its £0.00125 per mile replacement turbo cost.

Other wise fault less

Smokes at take of, but flies though MOT even when u carnt see across the workshop, they look for the HC levels in test and the car is spot of that.

But as the car does 3500k a year not worth getting it fixed.

Would recomend vxr upgrade and phase 1 chip, will be looking at 80-100 in 2 secs.

Last time a spoke to lmf it was about 550 for turbo, plus fitting but not a hard job.

Phase 1 prob 300ish,
