I have an iPhone and love it. But then then others have the HTC and love it. Think you best play with both and see which you can live with.

I've only ever used Eck's first generation Iphone two years ago and didn't think it was much special. Plus it got all finger prints which drove me crazy. New ones are better though I'm told. I HATE most touch screens, but the Desire's is very responsive which I love. Have to give a new Ipod a go. Are any of the iphone apps free?

Tons of free apps. 90% of mine are all free, and I have 72 of them at the moment. The finger print thing is a bit gay, but it's inevitable really. Play with a 3GS and see what you think.

I've two iPhones. One is for work and the other for personal use.
My work one has been replaced twice. First one decided to not boot and second decided not to get a signal.
I love the iPhone but don't think i'll get another. From my experience i'd go for the HTC.

Knew I'd never get a clear opinion about any question involving an iphone! May even hang off until they release a new iphone in June/July. Doubt I will though.

iPhone. Apps are free, but some you have to pay for. I love mine, you wouldn't regret it if you got one imo. You could also wait for the new 1 aswell.

Just thinking though, will the new iphone be like all its predecessors that didn't become available on orange until months after release?

Apps aren't free. There are a fair few free ones but most you pay for!

No there are loads of free apps, but theres load of app that you need to pay for. Same with Android phones, but you can customise Android phones a lot more.
Personally i think Android is the future and the Desire is a great phone (only had a little play mind), but it's horeses for courses and i would get down to a shop to try out an iPhone. However i really would wait until June/July to see what Apple does with the iPhone, plus on launch date of new (/updated) Apple products you can usually pick up the predecessor model for cheap from Apple stores.

That's why I said you have to pay for some. I have probably paid for 3-4 apps on mine, the rest were free...

i have had both. desire is mentally quick on web and when using the phone. battery is better than iphones. as is camera quality. app stores are on par, nothing really stands out as being better.
htc build quality now is stonkingly good, but iphone is also good.
if i had to pay, id go for htc simply because longer warranty, and cheaper to have.

HD2 is crap tbh, slower CPU, less features, and you're stuck with Winmo 6.5, which is like flogging a dead horse...
I switched from Winmo 6.5 to Android when i got my desire the other week, and to be honest, I will never go back to a Winmo phone ever again. The desire & android just pisses all over what Winmo has to offer in every respect.

HTC suggest Q4 2010 but windows mob 7 may have been delayed and whether HTC will wait is another question
