morning all.

chap at the shop im in has a 1.8t audi a4 quattro and is looking at having the engine remapped. Theres so many options out there, and i know theres vaggers on here. Hes not after huge power, but a nice chunk of torque would be handy to drag the misses n kids along.

whats a reputable vag chip upgrade tuner in the SE?

what kinda price range?

power and torque average increases?

increased fuel economy and smoothed power delivery?

im here for a few hours so any input or links grateful.

i wouldnt want to pay more than £300-350 for a decent map on one of those, its a very popular engine so every man and his dog offers remaps for them, doable thru the diagnostics, should only take an hour or so to do aswell.

They will all be similarly priced between 300-400.
Ive got custom code, as its more progressive.
Lots of people rate Revo and AMD maps as they are more agressive ie.
nothing nothing nothing..BAM. Everything.

I might try this place as they're near me:
http://www.paramount-performance.com/acatalog/vag_group.html
They do a RR before and after.

They all just plug into the ECU and load on a generic tuned map. Takes minutes, although depending on the ECU they may have to bench map it.

Top names are:
Revo
AMD
Custom Code
Jabbasport

True my mates just got his MK4 Golf back from R-tec and the service was superb, he had problems with the turbo company and R-tec helped him through it even did a load of work for free.

What do you use?
Where do you get the maps?

I have a KWP2000+ but it won't work through the diagnostics port (even with the me7.5 software). I've read that the ECU needs removing and then uploading.

thats because its cheap chinese copy i bet

optican hydrid flasher, i buy my maps from tuning companies, all dyno tuned and road tested

so ecu's have to be either done direct to ecu pins or even on the bench on the motherboard
