not really a major build or prodject but thought i would take some pics of the work i will be doing..
so one of the conrods decided to break free of the engine leaving a 3inch hole in the bottom end!! so i have a replacement bottom end for it and will be replacing it. the timing belt was still in one piece after it happened so was hoping it hadent bent any valves. made the mistake of starting at half 7 last nite so it got a bit dark. but heres how it went.....

to start with this is my car...

wasnt taking the hole engine out just yet, just taking the head off to inspect the damage so got everything disconnected and removed for the head comming off.which involved disconecting all the water pipes, header tank, battery and took the tray out aswell as its getting painted, all the wiring, power cap, radiator, unbolted the exhaust manifold, removed timing belt cover, camshaft pullys, timing belt and obviously the rocker cover to get to the heed bolts.

then unbolted the head and lifted it off...(sorry it got a bit dark by the time i took the pics but you get the idea)

and heres the head, wasnt lucky enough for the valves to be ok so there was 4 bent valves, 2 exhaust and 2 inlet.

so the list of parts is:

head gasket
head bolts
timing belt
2 exhaust valves
2 inlet valves
5ltrs of oil
and oil filter

and hopefully will be ready for total vauxhall at crail MAY 9th only 2 weeks away! if its not running i will push it out as i stay in crail so its not very far

will update as i go along and will put pics up of the damged valves and bottom end when its not raining like it is today

also got a couple of other things to do like lower the front end 10mm and raise the back 10mm.
and in the next month or so want to get some smoked depos and paint the arches and top of bumpers anthrisite same colour as the wheels. maybe a new exhaust.. oh yeah and some molded opel mudflaps

any comments welcome

yeah will be good to see how it started! i am glad in a way that some of the bits like morrettes and that are gone as i really want to make it my own car so the less thats there to start with the more i can do myself. my plan was to buy a standard brocade yellow sport and do it all myself but finding a good one was immpossible and then this one came up and its in amazing condition!!
