Anyone else think its wrong that Man City should be allowed to sign a goalkeeper? Maybe if all thier goalkeepers were injured (i.e. senior players) but they are not because one - Joe Hart is on loan. IMO if you loan out a player and then are short in that position its tough luck.
Anyone else agree?

i think it's wrong. why should they be able to sign a goalie just because their 2 main ones are injured and they loaned the other out?
they still have a goalie so it's not like they don't have one.
portsmouth will kick up a fuss i expect.

They still have that young keeper who played against Arsenal. If he gets injured, then by all means sign an emergency loan. Or use a younger reserve/youth team player ?

Ali Al Habsi, Boltons second choice keeper would be a good move.

Shouldn't be allowed.
We've played reserves and had players like Fletcher and Carrick play out of position before.
They should use their other keeper. Simple as.

1 goalkeeper means they are allowed. If they had that youngster and somebody else it wouldnt be allowed. The rules are there and allow for this so fair play to them.

I don't see a problem with it
Can't remember it ever being thought of as a problem when Everton brought in Sander Westerveld for 2 games

The goalkeeper clause has been used a million times, it's the rules for everyone therefore fair.

Its not just for Goalkeepers. You can use it to sign any player outside the window just most clubs dont bother as they can usually accomodate cover for an outfield player.

Interesting. I'm not sure I've heard of any club being allowed to sign an outfield player?

I'm not sure it has ever happened, but they could do it if they wanted to.

Suppose it's pretty much impossible to argue the case of an outfield player as long as you have at least 11 fit.

TBH Liverpool should have applied to sign 2 new strikers as the only one they have is always injured and the others would not make it into any other clubs starting 11 lmao.

From F365:
The Numbers Game
Number of goalkeepers Premier League rules state a club has to have to allow them to sign another on an 'emergency' loan: Less than two.
Number of professional goalkeepers on Manchester City's books: Nine.
Number of available professional goalkeepers on Manchester City's books: Four.
Senior Citizen
Incidentally, 23-year-old Gunnar Nielsen, the man who City apparently feel is too 'green' to keep goal for them in their final three matches, has made 11 senior club appearances in his career, along with two full international caps and ten for the Faroe Islands under-21s.
Vito Mannone, the then 21-year-old keeper Arsenal had to field earlier in the season (including for four games in the Champions League) after their first two choices were ruled out, had up to that point made a total of five senior appearances.
