Realised last night my MOT has expired, called the bloke and booked it in for today as bar a new bulb which i had to change I'm confident it would pass. Had today off as well with no plans so wasn't overly bothered that it was MOT time.
Anyway garage called and said they couldn't fit me in and ive called around the local test centres and bar one in the afternoon tomorrow when im at work i cant get a slot until next Tuesday morning. Thing is i really need the car for the next few days and know its mechanically sound after going all OCD on my checks today. When I found out I wouldn't get it in until Tuesday i was like sod it ill take the risk. Just thinking now and its the whole insurance been void thing putting me off.
Do i have any entitlement to drive the care as it is booked in and the garage cancelled on me?
What would you do?

Who said your insurance is void?

Driving with no MOT is non-endorsable...

If your insurance is void then it would be endorsable...

I was always under the impression if u got cought you'd just have a £30 fine...

I know people that have drove for months without an MOT purely becuase they forget!

You don't have entitlement to drive despite trying to book something.

There's a fine for getting caught using it.

The insurance is a concern as if they refuse cover you're in a very sticky situation. Not clear if they would though for being a few days out. Trouble is you won't know until it happens.

Thing is couldnt the insurance company say we arent paying out as the condition of the car was in question, Like for all they know in the last 12 months my brakes could be shot.

Are you sure, there's people on here who haven't noticed the car is being held together by 2 strands of rust until they've stripped it bare.

You can do it without realising and playing done.

I'm pretty sure in insurance small print there is nothing that says "You must have a valid MOT certificate". What it will probably say is the vehicle should be in a road worthy condition. And technically, because you have no MOT, it isn't road worthy.
