Erm, weird and probably stupid question, but i'm digging up a fair bit of our garden to have a bit of a border, and the soil and turf is shit, so need to get rid of it, where do I put it/take it?
Put a bit in the brown recycling bin (takes garden waste) but obviously it weighs a fucking ton, and i'm not entirely sure it classes as garden waste anyway 
Should I load it in the back of the car and take it to the tip? Would prefer not to rent a skip because a) I can't afford it, and b) there's not really any room out the front of the house

Bag and skip was my more honest idea.
Would of done the fence, but they're working on the garden for the houses that are there now, think they might guess where the turf came from if I lob it over there

I filled our bin with old turf and soil and it weighed an absolute tonne, surprised it didn't break the wheels if I'm honest. I was told they wouldn't take it by a couple of mates, but I chanced it and they took it.
Worth a go...
Although for the rest of it, I've just chucked it over the wall onto the building site where they haven't started building yet. Might be worth getting a wheel barrow and offloading it on site somewhere (assuming they're still building).

Gonna be at least 8-10 bin loads if I do the bin, only done a tiny bit of the trench bit and that took nearly half the bin.
Yeah, still building around here, was gonna go and have a search for a skip and do that, so might have a nose tonight, ideally wanna get the garden sorted over the weekend, as got family coming down in a couple of weeks.
Just mowed the lawn for the first time, pain in the arse, but strangely satisfying

 They aren't all that pricey. We have skips fairly often on the farm and they don't seem to break the bank...
They tend to charge by the day/week so if you could get it done on a weekend then it shouldn't be too bad.

Hmmm, fair point, i'll have a look round where they're building and see if I can sort anything, otherwise loading it into the car to take away in many many trips or skip seems to be the choices

If I did dump it, it'd be in a skip on the building site. I bought a house off them, I get to use their skips

Be warned if you take it in bags to the tip that might only allow you to drop off some.
The 'rules' are that you are only allowed 6 bags in a medium sized car per month as its not really house hold waste.
Our local tip has kicked off aat me a few times about it, on thursday I had to go to 3 different tips to get rid of soil to prevent another rollocking and even then got a warning for 9 (wow) bags!
Skip is the easiest way.

whe I was doing this on the allotment I just trned it over and mashed it into a pulp till it looked like soil,
the blades of grass will die and add richness to the soil when they decompose

you will be able to dump it at the tip for free
dont go to the hassle of taking it away and then fly tipping, thats just pikey and fucking annoying

Was originally going to do that, but it's really Clay-y underneath, so not really viable.
Will ask the builders whether they want/need it, or whether I can use their disposal stuff, van or whatever they use, can't see why they wouldn't not like i'm causing them more work, so fingers crossed

I was expecting them to turn me and my mate away. Just gave them the full story that i was in a marked up computer company van and had just moved house. They had a look and was just general house hold rubbish such as an old dining table etc.
