Corsa Corsa Corsa
Partially because I prefer the looks over the Astra and am into small hatchbacks more than larger ones, but also the Corsa will be quicker because it's a fair amount lighter

Trying to go no higher than a 1.8 as i dont really want to be getting any less than 30mpg really.
Mk4 gsi would be nice but dont want to be paying a bomb on insurance.

Is there a price difference out of interest? This is just a semi-educated guess but I'd have thought the Astra will be cheaper.

I would rather a corsa c 1.7 cdti
17' sri/coupe turbo alloys
eibach springs
irmscher grill
irmscher twin round exhaust
and re-map to 130-140 with no other mods

TBH dave, there about the same iirc.
Im currently looking at a mk4 myself, If i was you i would go for a 2.0 astra though. Astras is ment to be one of the best last gen vauxhalls, handle well straight out the box.
Just dont buy a shit spec one.

Hmm, fair enough I was just thinking that there seem to be more 1.8 Astras about than 1.8 Corsas. I've only ever seen one other 1.8 C round this way, but loads of Astras
Stavs could be on to something though I don't personally like driving diesels much but it depends how you feel tbh

Dave - I think its due to the astra appealing to more people, 1.8 corsa's arnt exactly ten a penny though, get what your saying.

Why the diesel stavs?
Prefer the sound of petrol and the 1.7 cdti is 25bhp less than the 1.8.

Yeah, fair point. When I was looking for mine there was never more than about 20 that matched what I put in the search - in the whole country I was being quite specific though
Firestate has a good point too - I think I'd rather go on a long trip in an Astra than my car. My mate's one just feels like it would cope better.

Best colour for them imo Once it's got some nice wax on it then it's easy to keep clean with a weekly wash
