I know in some cases (if your only just over the limit) you get offered the chance to pay a £90 fine and take a speed awareness course instead of the normal £60 + 3 points.

39 should be above the upper threshold for this...

The way to get off is to take it to court and state your defence.
Does he have a case to present?

If he needs a clean license for work they might give him a big fine, but that would have to go throug the courts..

speed limit + 10% is usually the threshold, slightly above is to the officers discretion, road conditions and traffic flow ect, much more and your buggered

What would happen if you got caught racing (2 cars both stopped), 60 in a 30..and its going to court.
Someone I know stupidly decided to get caught...

I done 48 in a 40, few months after passing my test, I was given a choice, £60 fine and 3points, OR take a Driving Awareness Course, I took the Course.

Tbh you deserve it mate. Dont understand why every one seems to think the prom is a drag strip. Its always crawling with the police especially jammers. Anyone stupid enough to race along it deserves to get fucked imo.

just admit it and pay up, speeding fines aren't as bad as you think really.
A small fine which is less than if you get caught dropping litter, and the insurance increase is only a little and its spread over a year
sometimes i speed in the knowledge i can afford to get caught
i'm just that cool

Biggest school boy error in history? The polis are down near enough every night. You'll be lucky if you get a years' ban and massive fine.
