Local lad purchased a Nurburgring Edition Astra VXR (like OJC's)....

Has the optional extra of a remus catback (£1k)... which did sound very nice (pops and bangs loads!)...

Anyways we went up and down the bypass and I have to say it felt quick but not massively quick.... wasn't as much low down pull as I was expecting 5-6k and the turbo goes nuts

Compared to the civic, definately a nicer looking car, better interior, better built and cheaper to tune... but his is £15k compared to £7k in terms of speed and handling he complained that the handling wasn't very good although it did feel planted... I think in a straight line in comparison to mine it would be a tad quicker, not much but a tad... (it should be when it has at least 40bhp more )....

He's looking for some ideas on what to do with it, I suggested the usual stage 1 map, eibachs and anti-rollbar but he didn't seem sure...

That's all

Ive got my heart set on an FN2, test drove it a few weeks back, it was ok, but needed to be in the right gear for speed, going out in a VXR 2moro, but for some reason i just don't want to own another vx... perhaps the speed will lure me

Yeah as standard it doesn't feel like it handles well, but it does. It's hard to explore the limit on the road, maybe it's easier to find the limit in a CTR.

Astra VXR's take a bit of driving. Maybe he needs to practice a bit more and then comment again?

Possibly, he used to drive a rover so perhaps he needs a little more experience... no one is going to suggest mods for it then?

He's gone from a Rover to an Astra VXR and he says it doesn't handle well???!!

As for Mods....

DAP R Springs
Whiteline Rear Anti Roll Bar

This will transform it!

Then....

Exhaust and Stage 2 remap. I've got an EDS map and love it.

As for exhausts...take your pick!!

The Piper and Scorpion are very popular at the mo. Then you've got your usual Remus and Miltek options.

Tell him to pop on vxronline. Ollie hates it but theres alot of good info on there and good people.

I found that last time I drove a gsi astra. Didnt feel quick but speedo and other traffic said otherwise.

Thats why I like my saxo feels really fast even though its not overly quick
