just wondering what stage 1 tuning is for a redtop
-induction kit + cold air feed
maybe remap or chip
decat
straight through
fse valve
larger 4-2-1 manifold or even 4-1
and what sort of power aswell?

there is no such thing. The above maybe see 165 on a good engine.

even after a remap?? god thats alot of money and time for an extra 15 well probally 25bhp as theres probally a bhp drop due to ware on the engine

oh right fair enough thats still costly and then i expect you would be lucky to even get near the 200bhp mark! ported n polished heads give much of a gain?? might aswell get the info while theres someone knowlegable around!

cams head work throttle bodies decent exhaust manifold and system would see you 200 odd. I had standard xe with 4 branch and twin 48s and it made 181bhp

My old XE rr'd at 169.2 ponys with a powerflow/decat, ecotec pipe & a powertec filter.
All depends how healthy your engine is etc.

Iv build an xe with ported head, decat, superchip, powercap, full rebuild, made 184 and 180bhp on rollers 160mile apart. Sometimes you get realy good motor other times ther poor.
Stock cams limit you at about 180bhp anyway, but as said carbs, tbs or a turbo are way to go, dont bother with wasting money on the tacky bolt on mods like those

Mines had a full rebuild with 86.5mm pistons, kent ast 1612 cams and all kent parts used in the head with +1mm valves then ported by cylinder head developments, adjustable fpr, de-cat and a dastek unichip and it made 162bhp on aldon automotive's rollers. That was with a f20 that was whining like a bitch too. Not that big of a figure for the work/money but its still pretty nippy compared to other xe corsa's iv'e come across.

Tbh I wouldn't expect much from that either Dale. However, with those sort of mods you'll be able to get bigger power more reliably.

so to get any performance the inlet and outlet i.e exhaust have to be upgraded
1.Decat
2.larger exhaust manifold with free flowing system
3.throttle bodies/carbs
4.ecu or some sort of engine management upgrade
5.cams for more top end
6.turbo/supercharger
well my idea of how the tuning works

Mine has a had a full rebuild, including honing of bores, polished and ported head, Weber 45 DCOE carbs, Ford EDIS ignition with Megajolt ignition controller, 4 branch manifold with single silencer (95dB @4k RPM)
It produces 158bhp at the wheels, so give or take gearbox/diff losses about 180bhp @ the fly
That is with £2.5k spent on the engine and RR setup
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
