Anyone been? Seem to be quite settled on the idea of going here and wanted to see if anyone here could shed some light on wether it's good or not! We'd be staying in either Veradera or Holguin (I understand Holguin is a bit quiter but both are equally secluded) and hopefully head into Havana at some point.

August is when we plan to go also Apparently the currency is a bit of a pain, you need to exchange your money once over there and change it back over there as you can't do it here.

Balls. Well I used to be a travel agent, but can't say I ever booked anyone to Cuba but studied it a little.
Veradera is quite a nice place though I believe.

Edit: Aaah yes, in the previous holiday thread I made. It's Alex who quite fancied Cuba, and it looks nice.

How is it heading in to the main towns - perfectly safe to go off on your own around them and explore?

For a young pretty blue eyed boy like yourself it is not safe.

Expect forceful activities that will permanently increase your ring diameter by 2" and ruin your best shorts.

Cuba's meant to be amazing!!

August is bang in the middle of the hurricane season though. Remember when we were in Mexico, Jades cousin was in Cuba when one hit & spent the almost full holiday in the basement of the hotel.

I've been carribean about 4 or 5 times now, mostly in July/august time and never been hit by a hurricane. Will often get rain towards the end of the day but only for 30mins or so then nice again.
