Last week. On the way to download festival. Two of my mates (that were both driving, fully loaded cars) were involved. About 6 cars driving in convoy in outside lane, woman infront of the convoy slams on her brakes (for unknown reasons), matey in fiesta ploughs into back of her, then matey behind (306) hits back of him.
Who would you say is to blame???
Anyway pics
Car that was hit

If you crash into the car in front of you then it's your fault. That's why you shouldn't drive so close to the car in front.

The woman if there wasnt any reason for braking
I know ed's point is correct, but I would have thought if there was no reason surely she is to blaim

the fiesta driver will be at fault as the police will say he was driving to close which is a shame but thats the way they will look at it

The fact is that no one in the fiesta or the rest of the convoy could see if she had reason to or not.
Everyone on facebook is slagging of the woman etc and saying she is going to "get whats coming". All because someone was driving up her arse.

the car that hits the car in front is usually to blame.
so the fiesta is at fault for hitting the astra, the pug is at fault for hitting the fiesta, etc.
In my motorway pile up it was the car right at the back that caused the accident, but it still had to go through that way and it ended up that the guy wasn't insured so the claim went through the MIB.
The woman shouldn't of braked if she had no reason to, so that might be worth investigating,
but the car behind should of had enough space to avoid a collision.

the fiesta had no chance of stopping, fully loaded and probably standard 10yr old brakes
why is the astra so far ahead and still have skid marks to the tyres?

Driver of fiesta's got a fat black eye. His GF had to miss the festival, broken nose amongst other injuries. Neither of them had seatbelts on!

I wondered that. Im now thinking that something had happened to the Astra in the outside lane so she was stationary (or slow moving) and the fiesta was going wayyy to fast (most likely considering the driver) didnt have time to react and shunted the Astra forward, whilst she had her foot fucking hard on the stop pedal.
p.s. I wasnt there, but none of the stories ive heard from my mates add up

Is that near the Chertsey/Staines junction? The part where there always seems to be traffic going at 50-60mph and generally having to slow down and speed up because of people joining/leaving the road?

Not far. They all left from Staines heading north (clockwise). In one of the pics you can just about see the aquaduct that goes over the motorway. I think its around J15 - J17.
