Heres my uncles new one, replacing his TVR probably.
Not a fan myself. Wheels look too modern for it, not keen on the paintjob and V8 badge on the back.
It has a 5.7L big block Chevy V8 in it.

Paint in black, red and white pin stripe, solid wheels, white wall tyres and it would look ace. Good starting point though!

Roughly me idea of a perfect hot rod would be a cross between the ones below
and
Id take the pin stripe from the first and second pics. Either the the satin black or gloss black from those same pictures. Then the wheels would be something similar to the 2nd to last pic but maybe the others

Bloody love hot rods my dad builds them for a living at the moment he got a 1934 3 window coupe and a 57 d'soto that could look like a nice rod change wheels torq Thrust d's and change paint oh and don't wanna sound cocky but a hot rod is a pre 1949 American car ford pops are English and think made from 1968 ish don't quote me but is a cool car!!!

According to Wiki (so bare with me, could be bollocks) they made Ford Pop's from 1953 - 1959.
