Hello im just about to start my full degree course since finishing my Engineering Foundation Degree. just wondering what degree would be best as i would like to do mechanical engineering.

what will i expect from the course and what will help e.g. books

will be either birmingham uni or coventry

i want to specialise in a subject and not do a general one as once i have the degree i would like to go further

If you would like to do mechanical engineering then a degree in mechanical engineering would probably a good place to start.

Im doing Mechanical & Manufacturing Foundation Degree in Engineering. My work pay for it tho!

Might to the 1 year course after to bump it up to a Degree!

never thought of that ever i thought doing a foundation degree in engineering would be perfect for a degree in hair dressing, u must hold a masters degree in posting pointless information in posts which are aimed at people who give real answers and not spam

I did my electrical/avionic/electronics for my degree.

Work payed for it all though. about 5 years ago now.

i'm doing a BEng in civil engineering part time at the min (work pays for it), looking at MEng courses in automotive engineering subjects as my day to day work is pretty drab, i'd like a change tbh

I've got a MEng(Hons) Mechanical Engineering.

I don't understand what it is you're asking though, as Ed said, surely if you want to do Mechanical Eng., then a degree in Mech Eng would be best?

Mine took 4 years with no sandwich year, which is normal for an undergraduate Masters.

To do Mech Eng, you really need to be good at maths, and I mean really good - some of the stuff is very difficult to get your head around, so be aware of what is required from you before you go for it!

yeah i do like maths its spelling i have trouble with lol

i really dont know what course to do there are a few that take my fancy, i just need to get to the same level as my dad, he hold a docturate in Electro Mechanical Engineering

Well, they're not that bad but you get what I mean. You should think about getting yourself to a masters level in Mech Eng then you can get yourself a really good job somewhere. Looking at your location try Coventry, Aston or Brum. Then when you're done try getting onto the Jaguar Landrover graduate programme (or somewhere similar), you can then work towards becoming chartered through the ImechE which will get you an even better job

Most engineer's hand writing is illedgible anyway so it doesn't matter if its spelt incorrectly and you have spell check for anything on a computer!

i already work for jag and i went to do my degree with them but they dont do what i want they do production engineering which i dont want to do.
