Can this be done? Im bassically wanting to sell my and get something else but it won't be for a few weeks, maybe months. I don't won't to end my policy as i want to keep the NCB building. I was planning on swapping my insurance onto my sisters car (which is already insured) for a month or so untill i've got myself a car.

What are the rules on this? I've read different stories on the net. Some saying you can't and some saying you can but you can't claim on both policies if you have an accident.

Thanks.

I dont see why it would be an issue, one insurance policy is for when you drive it, other is for when she drives it?

Technically, yes. Honestly, no.

The only reason i won't to swap my insurance onto it is so i don't lose the 7-8months NCB ive got so far.

Don't see the issue, I've bought and insured cars that the previous owner was still insured on. Its whos name is on the logbook that counts, right?

Is that possible? I didn't think you could do that, hence asking about insuring the same vehicle. I'll have to dig my documents out and have a good read i think.

I normally just leave my policy active on the car I've sold for the last few months.

Did it this time while i went to oz. Policy has ended now and NCB received.

When I sold my car, the insurance company told me I could keep the policy running for 30 days until I could find another car.

Most policies you can put on hold for 30 days. You can't have 2 policies on one car though, I wanted to test drive a car and asked my insurer to cover me on it for the day, can't do it as there's already an active policy on the vehicle.

Iirc you can only insure a car that you actually own as its your sisters car i dont think you can insure it plus your insurance comapny will know or would be able to find out that the car is already insured

Find a car on a forecourt that don't look like it'll sell anytime soon and stick your policy on that, sorted.

Some wacky advice in here.

You can't do what you propose.

Call them, tell them the situation, ask them to suspend the policy.

Or find a car sooner.

Less hastle to just suspend the policy. I did it around 2 months before my other insurance ran out, then found another car around a month and half later
