I'm after purchasing a XR3i as abit of a project. I've searched the web and can't seem to get a gauge of how much they are worth, as one might be for sale at 2k but then one for the same cond might be up for 3.5K.
I know they rust! Badly! But aslong as you look after them i can't see that being a problem.
Anything else to look out for?
I'm looking at throwing a bid in for the one below, and spend a few pounds on it

i used to love xr3's when i was a youngin. my uncle had 2 used to think they were mint but they did rot lol. 2-3.5k though for a xr3? not get a rs turbo for that?

cant see the point in xr3's,money wise people that want big money are just fishing,there not worth anywere near 2/3k. could get a rs turbo for that money but wont be the best.
i only realy take mine out in decent weather,cause they do rust,not as bad as people make out,but there not the best.only reason for this is the kits hold water. get a rst, s1 if you got alot of cash or settle for a s2,kept well and not used everyday,youll love it

Yeah thought they would be.
I'm only 19 so going to stick with a XR3 for the moment, what sort of price would you say the one above is worth?

around the price it is now,maybe max £600. bonnet looks matt black? could be wrong. and dont think that genuine miles probly been around the clock,looks clean anoth though

I was going to get one about 8 years ago for a project. Looked at it and it was a complete rot box. Ended up not bothering with anything. Was either an XR3i or an XR2i i was looking for,

my brother in law sold his one that was basicly XR challenge spec...leda coilovers, freshly sprayed, cage, RST recaros, black powdered doglegs and ashley challenge exhaust system. (worth about 4-5k) for less than a grand.
Unfortunately they are worth feck all...but good if you are looking to buy.

£2k on an XR3I should get you a fucking MINTER, unwelded, pristine, faultless.
They really aren't desired. Rs1600i, S1 RST, or even an S2 Turbo? Yes.
The XR3i really is a nothing car, synonymous with essex boys (see Barter above!), they were the original 'clit' car as every twat had one. <- I learn't that phrase as a kid helping my Dad's work mates work on them. (Before Hammer the Scottish tosser accuses me of 'ripping off' jokes again like the bitter little gimp that he is!)
Series 1 is the car I have always wanted but never owned, I spent ages looking for one, drove all over the country then one came up in Macclesfield which is just down the road, it was a 1/2 owner car by memory, even the spare was unused, it was MINT. I gave the guy a deposit and was borrowing £1500 off my Mum to make up the difference. I told him I needed a few days to take the money out of the bank, which he was fine with. The when I had it all there I phoned him and said 'Phoning about the Series 1', he was like 'It's sold', 'I said, yeah I know I left you the deposit!'. He had sold it to someone else the fucking TWAT. I even made the cunt drive to my Mums house and give me the deposit back and my petrol money. Twat.
I was 18 at the time, it would have been the fucking bollocks that car. I used to drive like a weapon at the time though, I was known as '2 speeds', I was either stationary or flat out so I probably would have wrapped it up. The way I was shafted out of what is still one of my dream cars makes me angry to this day.

XR3i's were slower than my Corsa Sport 1.4.
Quite why anyone would choose one over an RS im not sure? I never rated XR3is.
