If all is as it seems then thats pretty fucking excessive. However, who knows what the full story is.

In their eyes, he drove off, he could of had a boot full of uncut coke. OTT with the windscreen though, but the report doesnt say why that was done, maybe the old man said something.

He must of done something else, like failed to stop?
Look how many police cars are attending the scene.
One behind, one infront, and one unmarked pulls up on the other side.

Why would you have 3 police cars for just pulling over a man without a seat belt.

Yes, it looked excessive, but maybe they went to pull him over because of the seat belt and he failed to stop after being persued for ages (deaf / drunk / whatever) - by that point they're potentially going to take further action?

See what pisses me right off... They say pensioners like they are decrepit wee shits..

When really they are the most evil things on earth..

There "pensioners" know exactly what they are up to, cunning little fucks.. then play the "oh but im old" card when caught.

Like when your in a shop, and some old burd just decides to stand in from of you in the que..and they think because they are old you will just let them get on with it...no..get right to the end of the fucking que you deluded old boot.

My guess is the "pensioner" driving the big old range rover was at it..and wouldnt just open the door to the police..

throw him in jail and let him die.

fucking old bastards.

Definately more to it than a stop for no seatbelt.

Mr Whatley, of Usk, Monmouthshire, who is disabled, drove off at Cwmbran last September, allegedly knocked one of the officers, after police attempted to issue him with a fixed penalty notice.

The pensioner appeared at a two-day trial before Caerphilly magistrates court.

He was found guilty of not wearing a seatbelt, of failing to stop and of having tinted windows that did not conform to legal requirements.

There you go then.

So he got stopped for no seatbelt, but drove off and hit a police officer while driving off...

Since he had dark tinted windows they wouldn't of been able to see it was an old man.

Agree with all the other comments. If it was just a simple stop, then theres obviously no need.

Clearly more to the story than is being made out. Police don't go around smashing windscreens for fun.

The big word there though is allegedly. Plus it seems odd they didn't do him for knocking one of the officers down, yet did him for tinted windows which is ridiculously minor in comparison.
Hopefully the officers will be dealt with properly rather than just being "slapped on the wrist" as it's completely unprofessional in how they acted.

And like alex said, he might have had anything in the car, weapons etc, failed to stop and hit a policeman with his.

Whether a pensioner or not it was 100% just.

I fucking hate pensioners round here, they park opposite the gfs parents house, and you can just watch as they bounce off cars to park and walk off like they havent done anything wrong.

Lawrah got it spot on too, they play the "oh i'm old card"

I had an old guy stood behind me in a queue at the corner shop, shouting abuse at the cashier for taking to long but right in my ear. When I eventually turned round and said be quiet I got grief from everyone else in the shop like what I said was a crime. Takes the piss.

I heard the officer in question was submerged in water. If he sank he was innocent, if he floated he was guilty.

He floated to the surface and they burnt him on the cross.

Obviously of sound enough mind to be driving a 2 ton car.

More detail here it seems; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1300608/Robert-Whatleys-car-window-smashed-OAP-dragged-police-officers.html

- OAP was stopped for no belt
- Refused to accept fine and drove off, knocking over an officer
- Followed by police using Lights/Sirens for 17 minutes thinking he had an escort home
-Stopped using a Stinger - Police smashed windows and removed driver

Stupid Old tosser IMO. He says he was worried he may have another stroke (recently recovered from one and has heart condition - IMO, shouldn't be driving anyway)

So stupid. Blatently trying it on and the "old" card. Failure to stop although not charged, windows, seat belt, plate...
