to be building (aka playing) a Lego Technics Log Loader (8443 - This to be exact) at the age of 24?
Just found it in the loft (along with loads of other technic sets and a Mindstorm) and thought i'd build it up. But already getting weird looks and comments off the folks about it

Although from having a look on ebay, it's surprising how much this stuff still goes for; one of these log loaders is still going for £30 quid when it was £25 new about 14 years ago

A guy I work with who is in his 30's was just telling me today how he goes to LEGO land by himself and he gets funny looks.. Now I'm sure its completely innocent but come on, surely thats just playing with fire!

I had that one as well Danny.

Used to live on Lego. Most engineering concepts I learnt; mechanical advantage, leverage, triangulation, rotational inertia, loads of stuff I was first introduced to by Lego.

As for playing with it now, I can see the fun doing so but I would rather spend the time on real stuff. Although I do play it with my nephews if they have it out. Albeit not up to pneumatics yet

Danny, I have the same, its been apart a few times but it all still works, even the gears and the headlights. Good times.

EDIT: Those cars go for loads on ebay iirc

Also have a truck thing that is in need of some new bits, also have a combine that is preety cool.

IMO, its not odd, adults never grow up

I was obsessed with it, my Auntie took me to LegoLand in Denmark when I was about 11, best holliday ever. Ate sausages and played with lego for 8 days winner.

Dave - Going to Legoland at 20+ with your mates is pretty odd, but Legoland on your todd is a little too far

Danny - The 'Test Car' was Got the bits for a 8860 somewhere in the loft.

Tom - Found my box of scalextric whilst up in the loft as well, although most of the cars have seen better days

Edit - Currently eyeing up my pneumatic parts from my sets and on ebay to make a pneumatic engine of sorts

I got my huge box of Lego out the loft a couple years back and rebuilt a few of my pirate and castle themed models.

I wish I was young enough to play with it once I had finished.

Lego Technics is the best

When we were on holiday we went in some random shop that sold just about everything and they had some sets in there, I wanted to buy one but a) they were £30+ and b) I'd look mental

I think toys like this are best left in the past tbh.

The memories of spending hours playing with the lego fire station would be kinda ruined by having a go at it in your 20s.

Also, legoland on your own in your 30s

I had a large dumper truck, that lifted up.
