What the hell do you buy someone as a wedding present? There's no official presents list and normally I'd have left this to the (ex) missus to sort out or not bothered but seeing as I've been invited to the daytime now as well as the night time, I'm thinking I should buy them something.

I used to work with both of them when I ran the Pub/Restaurant. Worked with the groom for 10years and we've all remained close, still go out at Christmas for a works do etc.

Budget would be around £40-£50; I don't want to buy anything shit like a candle stick but have no idea what to buy. They live in their own palce and have done for several years so they don't really need house stuff; he's a chef so they don't/wouldn't need kitchen, cooking or food stuff.

Is a voucher/money in an envelope and a bottle of champagne too easy a way out?

I'd get something like a £50 Next voucher as they sell house stuff as well, and a nice bottle of wine or something?

i don't like this tradition, is it even tradition?

why does getting married deserve a present, ffs they already expect everyone to incur travel costs etc to attend the wedding

in fairness, the whole wedding is within walking distance of Mum and Dad's so I have no travelling expenses!

I'm thinking a good bottle of Champagne, I have a couple of £100+ bottles which I think they'd appreciate and they'd also know what they were so might give them a bottle of that?

We asked for cash, as we already had a house. However we also got some presents, mainly picture frames though

Last wedding I went to I gave my mate the groom £100. 8 months later they were divorced. What a waste.

Buy something cheap, something you get free is even better
