My mates left me with his mk2 golf Gti for me to sort out some little bits and bobs on it for him, so I have had it parked at the side of my house while I did the work the odd night after work ect.

I didnt know but the tax had ran out and he had sorned it over 2 weeks ago, One of my neighbours must have reported it and it has now been clamped.

I rang my mate and told him, he is fine and is willing to pay for it to be removed, but as the car is that low they have only put the chain through the bottom arm and not round the wheel, so it falls forward and I can get to the wheel bolts, could easy have it off in 10mins and stash the car?

Says Ł1000 fine for tampering with it though, but technically they fucked up so I wouldn't actually have to touch the clamp.

Rather tempting

Obviously you win this round...I just can't see the DVLA letting it slide! What you could do with is one of those kids cars...re-clamp that and set up a hidden camera.

Don't think there's much point doing anything with it when it's the DVLA.

It was on the road illegally and they know the owners address.

Might be stupid saying this but is it a fake? Wouldn't of thought the DVLA stickers would be peeling off.

Take it off and put it in your garage, write them a letter saying it fell over show that pic and it was a hazzard to members of public using path. Inform them it hasn't been driven. Leave it on your drive. Nothing will happen

Would be able to remove it without damage, I did think about taking it off and moving the car onto some private land and putting it back and phoneing them to say wtf is it clamped for, but they probably take photos for that reason.

another thing is they wedged the top edge under the wing to stop it falling over and it has damaged the car!
