Ok I have a chance of a straight swap for this

2001, 62k miles, all the history including running in service and every extra

I dont know if its manual or SMG tho so im waitng on his reply (has to be manual) but since the Astra has been fixed the cars running the way it should now.

The astra has only 36500 miles and is only 4 yrs old but the gearbox problem as really ticked me off with the thing and theres always the nagging feeling that it will happen again.

What would yous do in this situation???

It was mate but after forking out £1360 for a gearbox i'm in 2 minds

Everytime I see an M3 I think thats bloody nice but mine being only 4yrs old with low mileage is in the back of my mind.

That BMW is low mileage for its age mind you.

I actually love the colour lol, its not to everyones taste but the silver/black is just a bit boring imo.

The grey is a very nice colour as is the laguna seca blue but the LSB kinda hard to get hold of.

look at the wing moulding

Where the side repeater is, its looks lighter than the wing but in contrast to the door mouldings its actually the wing thats darker

looks like its had a front end respray (probably for stonechips, usual) and they have picked a slightly darker shade.
The bonnet and bumper would have been based up edge to egde with colour then lacquered. The wings would of had colour at the front and along the top to match the bonnet and bumper and to get rid of stonechips on the front edge, fading the colour down to the back of the wing.
They have just gone too far with the colour, if it was the correct shade it wouldn't of mattered
i like writting essays

Not even the same ball park let alone sport.

Do it, get rid of the Astra especially as they have a penchant for gearbox buggery

If he is saying its never had paintwork when you can tell from the photo it clearly has then I wouldn't touch it. Hiding something.

if a car has seen paint its not a bad thing, unless he is trying to hide something but i doubt it.
no car over a year old would have no stonechips so thats one way of seeing if its had paint before.
no stonechips on an old car equals its been painted.
fair enough he states there is some.
always check the inner wings for signs of paint and check things for overspray.

i went all the way to wales with £13.5k to buy an apparently mint carbon black cab,
i had a good look over it, on face value it looked good, then i realised th inner wing had been repaired and painted, then noticed funny alignment of headlights, then saw the sticker on the inside of the wing which comes on new panels and it had been painted over, i then found the car had a full respray with quite a bit of filler all over the place.
car was hpi clear and had full history, just been bodged somewhere, bloke was gutted when i told him.
