Started this project about 14 months ago when i decided i wanted a toy to have some fun , my mate was ment to be swaping his nova for a corsa redtop and i did a deal to buy it depending on condition, when the corsa turned up it was a dog so walked away, was sat there having a think and though fuck it, why not start from fresh so the look out for a shell started , gave my mate a txt and he got back to me saying that there was a corsa 1.0 in his work that would be up for sale, bought it for a bargan price of £120 (had failed mot on few bits like brakes) got it brought home and had a look around it and turned out to be in great condition so started stripping it on the drive, ill start with the pics of striping it, btw my mechanical skills are not great, before i started this i would not even change my brake pads but with this project its all about learning new stuf and so far i have learnt alot, the plans for the car will just to be have some fun, trackdays/quater mile fun and just a bit of fun on the roads, did not expect it to of gone this far lol, im hoping for power to be around the 450/500ish mark but as long as it drives nice and i have some fun it will not mater what power it makes . engine wise i dont know what spec im having yet, as i wanted to get all the shell finished of first then take my time with the engine as its all new to me, turbo wise i will prob be using gt30/gt35 if i have read corectley they should do , any more info would be great
while it was striped, my mate pete came and took the engine out
while i took all the sound insulation out, used a heat gun scraper then finners, took bloody ages
when i took the rear bumper of found a screw holding the rear arch in , had a bit of a poke around and found it all full of body filler
next job was to get a cage , went with a 6 point omp one, thought it would be a simple bolt in 5 min job, was not lol, needed cutting a welding , while the car was away having these done, had a few other fings welded to , petrol car welded over, spare wheel welded over, needed a plate putting at the botom of the arch where rust had wone, had all the bay seam welded, strenthing kit, heater matrix welded over and a few other bits
then i removed the front crossmember so its easer to get at turbo etc
i then bought a gsi kit and baileys header tank
i then set about removing all the underseal from the front arches wanted them down to bare metal to chech for rust and grinded all the surface rust from the bay
i then took the cage back out to prime it ready for paint
then bought a set of morettes
then it was time for paint, my mate jamie painted it , took me months of naging for him to do it as he has that much work on , he puled a few favours in and his mate wheo owns a body shop said we could do it all there so took it down there
pics of the filler work
next was the primer
next was to seam seal all the joins inside
then it was time for some paint, the colour i went for is alfa romeo red
we then set about painting the roof in black
while the roof was geting done i undersealed all of the arches
then we started to paint the outside
had a bit of a reaction but sorted it
this shows the colour best
then it was time to paint the cage, its a ferrari blue
then as it was finished with paint i had to move it, my mate had a spare unit so i temp put it there till i could find some where
i also put the cage in and started to refit parts to it
then me and my mate j(j pictured) undersealed all underneith
randon person i thought i would take a pic of lol
i then bought my intercooler, bit big aint it, and just cut up a old bumper , also got a slam panel of another corsa
not much room for boost pipe inside chase leg
i then got a set of cav turbo rims
i then moved to my new lock up was down on a farm was ok here, cheap but they were pricks about me being there all the time
it was then time to put the 5 stud setup on, had a disks rear axel to go on to and new polly bushes
then took the slam panel of to prime it
then came a problem when i went to fit the arch it did not line up, when we repared it we did not have the clips in the back of the arch so it was not lined up
i then fited the tie bar lowing kit
then when i went to colect my mounts and shafts i got ofered another set of cav turbo wheels just been refurbed and 5 new toyo proxies so had to have them
i then bought my self a c20let engine complete, and striped it down
since then i have remover the core plugs and its still sat on the stand
then me and my mate j fited a redtop in his, turns out quite easy actulary lol
then i hapened to stumble upon performance trim and my addiction to carbon fibre started first buy was the wings
i then moved again to the unit im in not, massive place roller shuttere locked gates outside, 3 phase, but it is expensive, got another gsi bumper and started to cut it properley
then i wasent happy to how all the rear beam ect turned out when i painted with hamerite so i sent it of to get powder coated
while it was all away i started to cut out for the adjustable top mounts, went with the comp brake ones
i then painted up the stearing rack , put new rods, track rod ends and new gaiters
while it was up in the air i painted all the underneith(pic in a bit)
i then went to pv and went straight to the performance trim, got a great deal on the bonnet ,and also spoke to him about a roof, when i got home, rang them up and orded the roof to
(roof is just placed on for pic)
this is the only pic i have of fitting the roof, we cut out most of it but left enought for the roof to bond to
then got all the stuf from the powder coaters, put new bearings, ball joints, brake shoes cables everything was new
while the car was up in the air i knocked it and it nearly roled over, luckley the door opened and it stoped it, that door needed repainting any way after my mate scratched it
might be able to see the white line rarb
i then bought my front brakes, still wainting to get my disks atm
i then got my suspension, ended up going with gaz golds
then it was time to fix the rear quater and paint some more parts
put my spare reg on it
next job was to fit the front windows, i still havent fitted the rest yet as the car needs flating and polishing and my mate wants to do it with the back windows out
then last week i went to go pick up a trailer
i then set about colour coding it
and a few pics of my daily drive, done all the work my self
and this bring you up to date, should be getting the side skirts back this week so will have fun fitting them, coments good or bad....................................

Theres a lot of work going into that - massively impressed!
How easy was the Carbon Roof to fit? Thinking of one for mine...
Wish I had a workspace big enough to get mine down to a bare shell, depsperatley want to get it done bu got nowhere to do it! Seeing yours down to a bare metal shell makes me want to get mine stripped and tidied up even more...
Love it. Keep it up.

Love it, been wanting to see a progress thread on this for ages, so clean, a lot of time and money gone in to it by the look of it. Should be a brilliant car once finished. I can't help think the cage would be better red or black though.

well got one of the skirts back from being painted, decided to go treat my self to a air riverter as i was going to have to rivet all the clips on
then when i started to mark out for the clips i relized that they slide on in opposite directions so i could not do it, so just put a few clips at the front and glued the rest on
lots of tape
how it looks now
