I'm guessing it's been done?
I was thinking of doing the X18XE1 conversion, but say £1000 all in for only 115bhp standard seems a bit pointless, as it'll only be 9bhp more than the X16XE, which is currently in the bay atm.
With the Z18XE being 125bhp? And a newer engine etc makes me think why isn't this more of a popular 1.8 conversion?

'why not fit a c20xe'
fitting a x18xe1 is pointless imo, better off fitting a decent exhaust and inletmanifold to your x16xe.
newer engine doesnt mean its a 'better' engine..
go for a c20xe or if you want to be 'different' go for a x20xev

Prefer smallblock. Shouldn't be that hard to convert it to cable? I'm just curious.

Am I right thinking yours is a 1.6 Scott? Would it not be better to fit a powerbox and 4-2-1 to the 1.6 rather than going through the hassle of changing the whole engine for very similar power gains?

There is no way it should cost £1000 to fit a x18xe1.
I beleive the managemnt is different on the z18xe, as others have said it runs Fly by Wire throttle.
Have a read through here.

Yes, many times. My brother used to own a c20xe corsa which was around 170bhp. Djdnt like the way it went around corners. Plus insurance costs etc
Shaun - I may just put my old engine back in then as that'll be around 130bhp. But yes mine is an x16 atm

What kind of set up did he have? As my C20let Corsa was fine and stable around corners.

cheap coilovers ie the likes of fk, hottuning, jamex... are shit at the best of times and will not take the extra weight of the c20xe/let very well.
a few mates have used gaz coilovers(with higher poundage springs) and rate them very highly...
i personally have always used spax coilovers(with higher poundage springs) and they drive spot on round corners etc

X18xe1s have been highly rated by all garages I go to. They are alot more commonly used than an x16xe. They respond better to mods aswell. If your doing the conversion yourself it's filthy cheap as uses alot of the same components as the x16xe. In an x16xe you will do powerbox etc and you will get 135bhp roughly. Do it in a x18xe1 you will be a healthy 150 bhp and a strong 150. It is defo worth doing. Seeing as a good block is 250£ if that.

Because it's a buzz word that everyone that knows fuck all hangs on to. Like the whole heat soak thing with cone filters.

Unless you have a light as fuck Nova, small blocks are not worth it.
Even XE Corsas are slow imo.
