Thinking of getting a new car, due to a few crappy problems I need the money thats in my car
So...After a daily driver, 2k ish, reliable, will be used mainly only for motorway miles.
Can be 3 or 5 door, 2 or 5 seater, cheaper the insurance group the better (i'm only 21 with 2 years ncb), obviously something not too slow.
Been hunting auto trader and found 1.8T Octavia's for £1500 not on moon miles, loads of focus', mondeo's, scenics etc aswell.
Any ideas guys ?

wouldnt worry about the miles on the octy. mines on 110k and still is great! had it 6months and only issue was the water pump but changed that and still sweet as a nut.

Yeah the gf's dad has an octy and I love the way it drives, and the ones I've found are only on 60k, i know cambelt would be soon but not too bothered about that.

60k i wouldnt even contemplate that being a high miler! mine has miltek exhaust, remap, dump valve, CAI runs around 230. Gets around 34mpg on the way to work country route. and about 19mpg when i floor it. Parts are cheap too. My cambelt + water pump was £285

a 320d for 2k is going to be over 10 years old and a dog. Plus it it will be riddled with problems and only be the 130 bhp model. They are also really expensive when they do wrong eg turbo swirl flaps, fuel pumps etc etc for 2k it will a pre facelift with issues and moon miles.
Trust me I looked at several!

It's not exactly fast but my Focus has been very reliable so far Mike and is pretty cheap to run. Handles pretty well it could just do with a bit more power, especially some in gear torque

I'd love an auto just to cruise about in. Nice lazy car. I'd be worried with regards a high mileage on though as this may be expensive to replace.

Stick to something VAG with average miles for the year maybe up the budget the 2.5k. Something like a Golf PD110 or Octavia/Passat/Fabia/Ibiza with the PD110 engine again.
If you are doing 100 miles a day sod getting a petrol, just gettng a diesel has reduced my fuel bill by almost 50%

Ah, I didn't read the 100 miles part Yeah... That'll cost more than £30 taking it easy. More than £50 with a heavy foot

I recently got a 2002 Mondeo 2L TDCI for £2k with 53k miles on it.
It's bloody lovely, interior is roomy and very comfortable. I got the Zetec spec so it's good electric this and that.
Plus, it's got 130bhp and it doesn't hang about tbh!
Definitely recommended, I drive Octavias and Focus's at work, and this is much nicer.
