2nd, 3rd and 5th are virtually expired on my f28. What's the deal on astra vxr gearboxes? What is the common thing that expires on them? I know of diff pin shearing but other than that what happens? Unsure on risking buying a high mileage f28 and having similar issues

Thanks for help

Is it not Synchros and/or Bearings that internet horror stories suggest go on the M32s?

You can get uprated bearings for the M32, I had them fitted when I had the Quaife fitted.

I'd go down that route, but the gearboxes are more expensive due to being newer and there being a higher demand as the cars are still in production that use the M32.

4th gear went on mine including the diff pin. All bearings were replaced along with a clutch slave thingy lol. Also the rings that go over some part of the gears were seized so they were done as well. So I don't know there exact names lol

I can get all barings for the F28, I just took my spare box apart sent the gears to be recut to make stronger and took the barings to my local baring supplier (place remanufactors electrical motors) an they where able to match them up, some he even said where better than the ones which where fitted.
Maybe worth a shop around mate

Done it nothing available even to match up. Got a phone number for the place you got yours from and part numbers? Although it don't matter much as it's the gears not the bearings but would be nice to know of available spares.

Thanks. I had a couple of mates who work at bearing places chase things up for me and they couldn't get hold if anything. Alright gearbox until you need parts for it.
