Within 18 months my debts will be paid off and will have pretty much all my income to spend of what I like.

Already started planning

First thoughts are Megane R26R and keep the Puma for work and leisure (wont be worth fuck all anyway to be worth selling)

Give me ideas

deffo keep the puma, will make a great runaround and looks decent now and has all the important mods.

dunno why but i think the megane will suit you.

18months is quite a long time away to be planning what specfic car you will buy, might be a mk10 astra vxr by then

i wouldn't buy a new car for track, would much rather have something used and not worry about the bodywork too much.

as long as the mechanics are spot on

Once you've driven the R26R the Puma will feel like a rancid, puss filled sore that you will want lanced and never to be seen again.

yes i know i went in one last year at the ring.

but i would put up with it knowing that i wasnt putting the miles and wear on the megane

most cars feel the same to drive, peoples only comparsion is the amount of torque from the turbo, thats what makes or breaks a car

this is why the CTR caused so much trouble, it didn't have a turbo

Jim, I suggest you drive these cars you keep slating.

If Steve gets an R26R he won't ever use the Puma on track ever again.

It's a good idea to keep the Puma as a runaround. I have my scooter for the same reason Steve states.

i haven't slated anything.

a runaround will not be undrivable because you have driven a better car, you just appreciate the better car more.

all the what i would class as normal run of the mill cars drive pretty much similar, people just wank over if it has a turbo or not as boost seems to make things decent in some minds (i'm talking about the puma, not the megane)

why not have just 1 car that you can go to wrk and also leisure


Not as if the r26R is going to self destruct by doing some miles in it

but you have twice the cost with tax insurance

unless its so unpractical or rather special like a rado then 1 car should be suffice

I disagree, having 2 cars is nice. Especially as I can imagine Steve, like me, will be putting softer tyres, expensive brake pads etc. It means that driving it all the time gets more and more expensive if you drive it daily. My car sits around 5 days a week and gets driven at the weekend, and when I get in it I love driving it cause it's not the 'same old'

wouldnt wash the puma or its lower arms

main reason is for work, where im always driving about the county picking things up and doing jobs on site.

wouldnt want to use the megane for that simply for the wear and the cost in fuel

I'd just get an R26 not an R26R. Just as good a car really and you could use it everyday quite happily.

i really wouldnt want to use a performance orientated car for wether it be a R26 or R26R work purposes for what i do anyway, did that with the leon and it cost an absolute fortune in fuel

I agree with MWG really. Me personally I couldn't put up with having just 2 seats! Then when you do go on track you can take the back seats out if you really want! I do love R26-r's so much though

since getting rid of the punto i've had to use corrado everyday for work etc, driving to building sites, although i love driving it, it does play in my mind about the unnessary wear on things, especially performance parts on shitty B-roads.

would much rather pay the extra tax and mot and have something like normal people have, i.e: the escort (sometimes its nice to blend into the background)

Last time I looked you could get an R26 for 11k, and R26-R's were 18k, that's alot of price difference? How about getting an R26 and finding a crashed R26-R and taking the bits off and saving alot of money?

dont think it would be too easy to convert a R26 to a R its got plastic windows and stripped out with a cage n stuff

R26 is still a possibility though
