I'm moving into a new place after Christmas, going to buy one on Boxing day.
I seriously advice you to hold out to buy one on boxing day, Massive bargains to be had.
Bought a 42" 1080p 100hz 2 years ago (LG) for £500!
Bought an LG 50" 1080p Plasma 50hz last christmas for £450.

I don't know much about current models, I worked in Currys selling TV's a few years ago, but before all of the 3D stuff came in.
I'd say its worth looking Mid December, and actually asking a member of staff which 3D TV has plenty in stock. If you get a younger looking lad, he'll tell you.
Go accross the road to Comet, do the same, see what they have got... Go home research them, march in Boxing day with your choice, job done!

The problem with 3DTVs is the technology is changing sooo much at most of the models at the moment are very early "lets see what we can do" models.
I'm not sure if I would bother with a 3dTv at the moment. The extra cost IMO is not really worth it at the moment.

I aint wearing specs to watch anything. Nor do I watch any 3D cinema films. I can't sit there for 2 hours wearing a set of oversized sunglasses. It would piss me off.

Toshiba have just realeased info on a new tv, its a 3d tv that you dont need glasses to watch. Think its going to be a tad pricy though!

The non-glasses are the way forward but they have a long way to go.
That Tosh has a very limited viewing angle and you ideally also have to sit a specific distance from the screen to get the effect most.

Personally i'd like to wait for a couple of years for the technology to get perfected, and ideally, wait for the non-glasses to come down in price (auto-stereoscopic i've been told) As long as you had the option to turn off 3D as well if you wanted
Think the non-glasses ones have a sheet of glass close to the screen which is how they get the 3D effect?
Have only watched Avatar in 3D and my ears and nose hurt from the glasses, let alone my head, couldn't imagine doing it permanently to watch TV.
Have to admit the £999 deal at currys did seem pretty damn good though!

If I was in the market for a new TV I would maybe go for it depending how much more it is over a non 3D. Wouldn't rush out and buy one especially though.
If they ever manage 3D where it doesn't require glasses I'll be all over it. Till then I'll make do with going to actual football matches as when its there its actually 3D, sometimes the ball even hits you TV cant compete with that
