Good: Never had a problem with mine making calls, texting and internet browsing
Bad: The only thing I might want would be more games but it seems to be getting better ones slowly and my battery isn't great

Good: Not an Iphone
Bad: Not sure haven't owned one but I've got it's little brother HTC Wildfire, and that's a good little phone (imo).

Shopsavvy and the likes is available for iPhones as well. The Desire is a good phone though and Android is a decent OS.

One thing I've noticed though with Android, is pretty much all the apps are advert ridden and the games are sub-par compared to the iPhones.

Good: homescreen widgets. Don't need to bother opening some apps as they auto-update for you. Screen looks great, and I love the integration between facebook, email and sim contacts.
Bad: battery life isn't amazing. Makes my iPad with it's massive screen look even more impressive.

while using the iphone 4 barcode scanner app, if you scan the box of an htc desire in a phone shop, it laughs at you. true story.

I don't know how the apple app's work but with android you will find lots of the good apps have two versions, a free one which will have adverts and a version you can pay for without any ads.
I've found there is more than enough games, but I suppose it depends how much of your time you want to spend playing them to whether there is enough for you.
I've had my desire for month or so now. Only complaint is battery life, but you have to accept that when moving to any new touchscreen smart phone.
I was choosing to upgrade between that and the iphone but the only real difference I saw is that I had to pay £150 to upgrade to an iphone and go to a more expensive tariff and the desire was completely free on my same tariff.

One reason I won't go for the iPhone. I don't honestly believe it can be such a better phone to warrant the extra cost over the others.

I like the 'feel' of the iPhone 4 than the Desire, comparing them in the O2 shop. Anodized machined N8 should be interesting.

I've been reading up on how to do this. I'm on Virgin and sick of waiting on them to pull their finger out with the update. Looks a bit confusing tbh, and I don't want to fuck it up

Visit XDA-Developers.com or http://android.modaco.com/category/430/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com forums and have a read around. The easiest option is to flash a new ROM, just need to backup everything though using something like Titanium Backup app

It's worth getting. It's s good phone. I'd happily have one instead of an iPhone as they do same thing really.
