It's winter, too keep my mind occupied during those kind lonely nights I've gone Premium and thought I'd make a project thread even though the Astra is near completion still got the Corsa to mess around with.
Here is the Corsa, it's a 1.4 16v SXi 90bhp. It has the 17" optional extra alloys which I was so lucky it came with and with these wheels you get uprated suspension as well. Which is nice.
It's a lovely car to drive, lacks in torque but it easily does 100mph and it doesn't struggle to its top speed of 112mph.
Today I ordered this grille but I only paid £39.95 from LMF
While on the phone I also ordered
And also an 'i' to go on the front grille
Oh and picked this up the other day from Halfords, just waiting for the surround to come in and the steering wheel control adapter before I fit it
I'm going to DIY spray the interior parts gloss black like the higher spec cars, how hard can it be
The car sounds like a sewing machine at the moment and according to the Corsa-D boys a cone filter sound quite good on these oh how handy I have one spare

As for the Astra
This is how it will stay until the RR Day then after that it won't come out again until March.
In that time I'm going to get a set of these.
The B8 kit is superb from all accounts and works fantastic with the DAP-R springs I have on it at the moment.
Aside from that, a set of new Mintex 1144 pads for the front and a set of plain standard discs.
I did contemplate a set of AP 4 pots but they are far too expensive and I simply cannot warrant spending £1400 on some brakes, Willwoods are supposed to be releasing a 4 pot caliper for the VXR to use with the standard discs but details are so sketchy at the moment so I'll wait and see.

Get that car cover off the Astra - you'll regret it if you don't. They cause so many RDS and marring from the wind blowing them about and grit getting caught underneath etc etc!
Corsa looks good, wheels suit it well, not so sure on the grille though

Oh Rich I wish you hadn't said that
It's not a shitty cover though, it's soft underneath cost me £54 quid from Halfords.
Please tell me it's not going to do anything I gave it a layer of wax before I fitted it on.

You're better off leaving it out in the elements with a couple of decent coats of wax on it than with ANY cover on it.
The seams are normally the worst bits as they rub on the paint as the wind moves the cover slightly - the marks they create are ridiculous ( I have had to deal with a few now, and you can't always get all the marks out )

They'll probably ask why you bought a cover for a modern astra in the first place.

It's strapped down though Rich, it's not moving around and I did have the same one on my Nova and it never caused any issues.
I thought it was a case that if you put the cover on when the car is dirty it will cause issues?
I had washed it, de-tarred it, clay barred and then put a fresh layer of wax on and it was perfectly clean.

any marks left by a cover should be piss easy to polish out, thats what i decided when i started using a cover
corsa is ugly as sin, i wouldn't spend any money on that mate, just drive it

i had one on the rado for a while, people were painting a house next door.
it didn't have a lining, just one type of material, it did leave marks on the corner of spoiler and front edge of bumper where it was tight fitting, but they disappeared easy enough
i also found dust still got under it somehow

goat foot is nearly gone now, last time i wear the wank sock for a laugh
yeah i think i just rubbed it with a bit of AutoGlym Super Resin Polish. tbh i gave up trying for this perfection i see on the internet and live with some of the marks on my car, buts it is 15yrs old and 200,000miles so never going to be perfect
try pulling the cover about on your car and see if it leaves marks

Get that cover off. It will fuck up your paintwork. Dirt and moisture will get in underneath and if it moves in the wind it will be like sandpaper.
AND tbh why are you covering the VXR? Get it well waxed/sealed and just drive it through the winter!!! It will be fine. Just make sure the wheels are well sealed and washed off every week.
*EDIT* Bugger....Rich beat me to it!!!

Tbh imo I think covers are only good for use in a gargae to keep dust etc off.
We've got one for the kit car to keep dust and my parents cat off it.

I've got the same Cover on my Corsa, well, the small one
Need it to stop rainwater getting in through the window sliders - not fussed by the paintwork on mine though
Seams rubbing shouldn't be an issue with it as they are external seams
