Head on.
Equivalent to hitting a wall at 100mph?
Yes or no?
Discuss.

If you've seen the mythbusters thing why are you arguing about it?

I guess if they are travelling into one another, pretty much a 100 mph crash.
But it's not, there are many other forces that come into play with any crash, too many to work out accurately unless you have lots of equipment to measure the different types of forces etc

TBH a stationary wall would exert many different forces to a car travelling 50mph.

It's nothing to do with the 2 cars being exactly the same.
You wouldn't have exactly the same result but the principle stands.
I can see mythbusters going back to it with different cars because of that.

No, a wall wouldnt be moving so it would just be a 50mph crash, but if it was another and both were travelling 50 mph, then yes, it would be 100mph

however theoretically it would be a 50mph impact....
factoring out crumple zones and shapes etc etc etc

Theoretically, in every impact there is moment of stillness as energy is passed from one subject to another.
To elaborate, if a train going at 100mph hits a person standing on the tracks, the person can not physically instantly achieve 100mph, and must accelerate from zero. Therefore, there is a miniscule moment when the train stops as it hits the person. It gets very messy, very quickly after that though
