As above..... I think ive decided im defo for a vectra sri, but dont know which engine to go for

Obviously the 2.5/2.6 v6 is most powerful with the 2.2 runner up followed by the 2.0 eco & 1.8

But which is the best engine? are there any deisel sri's?

get a 2.5 v6 sri and put a set of "G" cams in from the vec gsi/ omega 3.0, you will have 190bhp and shit loads of torque, thats what i'm putting in my astra coupe when i next get a weekend off.

From what ive seen, 2.2 isnt the most reliable engine. Id expect the 1.8/2.0 to be shit slow.

Brother had a GSi and that never went wrong, pulled well (considering the weight) and was a nice car.

So IMO, V6. Just make sure the cambelt has been done/get it done.

mine was a 2.0 sri and theres so many problems with them

2.5 v6 are ok

2.6 v6 are fly by wire even better performance and mpg.

2.2 16v are a good all rounder

if you are going to get a veccy b look for the cdx model as it has all the extras like cruise control and climate control

My mate has a 2.0sri and the only problem I think he's really had with it is it seems to eat sensors, goes pretty well but I think he's possibly mapped it or something.

Why choose an Sri over a Gsi??

Gsi's can be picked up cheap these days.

The look the best and are the fastest.

Cruising on a motorway etc i think they can return about 28-30mpg. As long as you dont expect them to be good lol.

The smaller engined ones wont be much better as obviously your on the loud pedal longer getting up to speed, and vectras are not a light car.
