I'm curious as to how good it actually is? It looks pretty good in the demonstrations but it also looks a bit too staged?

There hyping it up to be amazing, can see it being a big let down tbh!
although its a sign of good things to come. using your hand as a gun in the likes of cod would be awesome

I love the idea of controlling the xbox with it and some of the games look promising but I'm dubious about how good they actually are.

I disagree, for me, I play games to relax, and have a chillout whilst murdering hundreds of people from around the world, all sitting down.
I don't play games so I can prance around like a queer in my living room.
HOWEVER, I do like the other uses, such as the DVD control, and navigation around, Minority Report style, will be interesting to see how it develops

iirc, it's voice controlled as well, so just shout pause at it I guess

Same. I like playing so i can chill out, have a beer and rest after working all day and going the gym. Fuck getting up and jumping around the living room.

When I get another xbox I'd go for kinect simply for motion controls on the menus and voice control, not for gaming. I like a control pad and chilling out that's why I sold my wii

It is fully integrated with the XBOX environment so that means Zune, sky player, dvd's, music, videos etc.
