i buy a half done project. engine is fresh built.

i run it, its quiet. fine an dandy.
it has let injectors so i tell him to swap them back or have it set up for them and its fresh built so be carefull with it.
all in honesty.

i sell engine, guy has it running says its sweet
then says its fast as fuck an pulls well
an he is gonna have it mapped.

then txt me askin for driveshafts as he has broken one.
so i find him some..

then he contacts me today 2-3 odd weeks later sayin its only been run to temp and its knocking

i dont know what he expects? ive been honest. if he has buggerd it, its his problem its a 15 odd year old engine

i think im right in sayin it has gib all to do with me if he has broken it.

and how he break a shaft. . running it to temp.. .?

XE I'm assuming? If it's fresh built you can't exactly use the 'it's a 15 yr odd old engine' line tbh.

But na, he could be bouncing it off the limiter everywhere he goes, it's his problem imo.

i'd be telling him to get on his knees and start suckin, he's clearly been ragging it to snap a shaft, you warned him to take it easy, and if he's been driving it around for 3+ weeks and found out it's really quick without it getting upto temperature then he's bound to start running into problems by not letting it warm up properly

the engine should have lasted longer than it did. whether its been bounced off the limiter or not

but that is not adams fault. just one of the risks when you buy second hand

its the risk you take buying any car. The guy sounds a tool from what youve said already. These things happen on second hand cars/parts . just tell him its been ok for three weeks , youve broke shaft by probably tearing off from standing numberous times . people like him do my are a pain in the arse

what i can gues has happend thou. it had let injectors. an from a non mechanic point of view. "cos im not a mechanic" it will need mapping or the std ones putting in
i even gave him std ones

what i reckon has happend is its overfueld and thinned the oil and done damage. couple that with he has bust a shaft so it hasnt been given any chance to bed in. and has been hammerd everywhere.

im sticking to my experience's. ive bought cars, and parts.
sometimes things fail.
i bought a cinqecento. ended up spending £400 before it ran right. but thats just cars.
i bought a corsa and it had no antifreeze. yup it froze. new engine time.

just the way it goes.

unfortunatly. its getting more common. and im starting to think its not worth the hassle. its really not.

most ads for engines say they are freshly rebuilt, when i very much doubt any of them are.

how much did you buy it for, how much did he pay you for it?

theres pics of it being check and put together.
and i sold it as a conversion. all the bits in one go.
so it went cheaper than it would have if i sold it in bits.

i think its the way the corsa scene is going.
nova's used to be chavvy etc i think thats passed and the corsa is smack bang in that era now.
