Nope, I have a set of AutoSocks, not used them yet but a lot cheaper, easier to store in the boot, easier to put on and for this country more than you need.

I've got Autosocks for the vectra.
Only because you cant use chains on the GSi's.
I used them earlier in the year when I was down in the french alps.
Really really good bits of kit. So easy to put on, easier than chains when I have used then. Traction from them is actually better than chains I found.
You just have to make sure you only use them when there is snow.ice on the ground. Any sign of tarmac and they start wearing very quickly.

Thing is round here it's very hilly so a bit more tricky driving around on snow/ice etc.
My other half had a (current shape) Micra 1.2 16v which seemed to manage OK, my Mondy estate got stuck a couple of times, and I'm not sure how her V6 Cougar is going to fare

Buy a passat. We went looking for the worst roads when it snowed for the Lolz and it powered through everything.

Although having said that, mine isn't particularly suitable, the heater doesn't work and it leaks. Astra is terrible on snow but at least it heats up quick and is mostly watertight.
Ste might post about snow chains, I know he used them last year on his commute fairly regularly.

Sunroof I think. When you drive off a trickle of water runs off the sun visor and soaks the passenger seat.

I bought a Disco to use for axles, engine e.t.c. for my Series 3. That leaked, but was mainly down to rot around the windscreen and the rear windows along side the roof.

Put mine on for a laugh last year as they can't clear near my parents place. Snowsocks cost loads more than chains too!
