But, my wench can't find her passport

It's a coach trip deal thingy for my birthday. I hear on the grape vine that because it'll be on the coath they don't check passports?! I highly doubt this?! Can someone please clarify?! Ta.

Ireland is part of the UK, driving licence is only for proof of ID when flying.

France wasn't part of the UK last time I checked.

Yep it is. But when crossing the channel, ferry companies will always ask for a passport. Its not like france to belgium, say, where you just drive past a signpost saying "welcome to belgium".
