I'm working all day and from previous experience last year it was an absolute ball ache, why people come out in the snow I just didn't understand. Christmas shopping will make it worse, really not looking forward to it.
Wouldn't be bothered if it snowed Thurs Fri

I work for the Council ....... just recieved this ! Note the bit near the bottom, they've imported salt from Egypt to see them through the bad weather
Dear All,
Regrettably I'm providing another weather update already this year which unfortunately means we're in for a period of bad weather!
As most of you will be already aware from television broadcasts and published forecasts, the weather over the coming days and weeks has to turn particularly cold with the possibility of snow showers.
The change in weather has to come in from early this evening.
The Met Office forecast for the coming 24 hours is indicating that we have a cold night in store with road temperatures reaching minus 5 degrees. Wednesday morning has to be dry and bright. Indications are that due to the low temperatures there will be a significant risk of ice forming, therefore arrangements have been made to pre-treat all primary carriageways from 150 this afternoon.
Outlook for Wednesday
Again it is expected to remain cold with road temperatures reaching minus 4 degrees. A brisk north-easterly wind will bring the occasional shower throughout the period, with these becoming increasingly wintery bringing slight accumulations of snow at all levels.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Snow showers are expected to continue through most of Thursday with further accumulations of snow expected. For Friday and Saturday the conditions have to remain poor. Snow showers have to continue through the period and are likely to give further accumulations of snow. Met office confidence is high on the cold weather but low on the snow amounts.
Unfortunately the 30 day forecast doesn't look much better with the cold spell being forecast to last through to Christmas with further possibility of snow.
UK Outlook for Sunday 28 Nov 2010 to Tuesday 7 Dec 2010:
The end of the first weekend will see snow showers anywhere in the UK, but most showers or longer periods of snow will be across eastern and central areas, with maybe southern areas being affected too. Risk of some significant accumulations, especially on hills. Also clearer spells, more in the west. All areas very cold with frosts and icy roads. Risk of gales in the northeast. Next week sees further snow showers in the east, with drier and brighter conditions to the west, and still very cold, but perhaps turning less cold in the south for a time. For the rest of the period it will stay cold with further wintry showers. The south and southwest may become slightly milder but with some spells of rain, sleet, or possibly snow.
UK Outlook for Wednesday 8 Dec 2010 to Wednesday 22 Dec 2010:
The cold conditions are likely to continue. Precipitation amounts should be average or slightly below, giving the risk of sleet and snow at times in many areas. Sunshine amounts are likely to be above average, although some south-eastern parts may see more in the way of cloud. Temperatures are likely to continue well below average, with widespread frosts, sometimes severe. There is some chance of it turning less cold, particularly for southern and south-western parts, but still with the risk of further rain, sleet and snow.
Salt
Updating from my previous weather update, the imported salt from Egypt docked at Rosyth as expected and has now been delivered to Guildyhaugh Depot Bathgate. In addition our UK supplier is delivering the remaining balance of our salt order over today and tomorrow.
Snow Code
The weather forecasts and conditions will be monitored and actioned accordingly throughout this period. However during periods of adverse weather it is important that the public do as much as possible to help themselves. With this in mind the Scottish Government have produced an advisory web site called "Ready Scotland" which includes a section called "Ready Winter" providing guidance on how best to self help during the winter period.
