I got a 2:2 - of 30people on my course 2 got 1sts, 4 got 2:1s; 4 got 2:2s and 6 got 3rds and everyone else failed - I didn't have a normal uni experience though, we had 36hours of lectures a week for 4 yeas whereas friends did 2-6 hours per week doing monkey's degrees.
i don't think I went in the student union more than 5/6 times in 4 years; it was a shit hole run by the kind of uni geeks that did said Monkey's courses but don't want to actually grow up, get a real job and get a life outside of the comfort of university
I am positive that most Business/English/Sports Management courses could be condensed into a year rather than taking three. Mates of mine who did Deckchair management (Sports/watersports management) did fuck all outside of lectures, only had a few hours a week of lectures, got into £££££s of pounds of debt and now have no jobs!

Most the violence from the last protest wasn't anything to do with the students and i'll probably be the same today. To be honest i'm glad they're doing it - 200% increase in fees, uni's to get a 30% budget cut and Cleggy going against his word

i think more people need to protest like this, like the french do.
we put up with too much and just sit around moaning amoungst ourselves.
i know i'd feel better about it if i could lob a fire extinguisher at some conforming moron

true, the only worthwhile University courses these days are Vocational ones - the ones in fields that you simply couldn't get a job unless you had the qualifications such as Law.
The way forward should be better schooling system and then vocational apprenticeships similar to how Accountants train with firms. Do away with Uni for Mickey Mouse courses and have pre-graduate training schemes, you learn more in the first month on a job than you will in 3 years of uni and you can earn whilst you learn!

I have no problems with people studying for a qualification that is required for a job, but some people go to do fuck all and fail at doing that

Uni was great! Used to piss about in the snow at 3 in the morning, wake up late and then watch day time tv all day. Cheers Steve, couldn't do it without you paying your taxes

That's the point I'm raising - A good degree which has an end game and an end career which you couldn't get without that degree I can understand.
Take me for an example, I couldn't have followed the career path I have without the course I took (these days) BUT go back 30/40 years and my course didn't exist, I would have served time with a ship wright, learning on the job as an apprentice to a Naval Architect for 5/6 years+ before being affiliated into RINA (Royal Institute of Naval Architects) and then working towards being chartered - now you just have to do 4 years of uni. I learned a lot but also a lot of useless crap - by training as an apprentice, you're putting the theory into practicle terms which makes you better at the end IMO.
Given the chance, I'd still have done what I do now but I'd have been time served as an apprentice over a degree and a few fancy letters after my name
