Why is it gritters dont grit side roads and just the main roads considering no one can get out of fucking normal streets in the first place because they havent been touched or ploughed to get people moving.
I live down two pretty steep braes and 1 very steep brae further along and theres no way up via transport. You would think they would have had some sort of treatment but not one fucking bit of grit and all the snow has turned to ice and that slushy shit You cant get a good run at them either because they have a sharp turn at the bottom.

they only do main roads as they dont have enough and you'd only turn around and moan if they did all the side roads + main roads and then in a few weeks time when the snow comes around again and they have none at all and cant grit any roads.
tbf use the grit bins most streets seem to have them, thats what they are there for.

Probably because they are out doing other major roads as they can't do every road because there is not enough machines.

Because theyd run out of grit in a day if they did every cul de sac road. Its just not time/cost efficient.
Unless you live on a really steep hill, you can get most places by just driving sensibly.

Shouldn't bother gritting at all IMO.
But suitable tires/snowchains.
You want to drive, make sure your car is capable.

No point.
Once you grit a road it melts then freezes. It's a process that has to be repeated many times which is not possible due to cost and resources.
Just fit winter tyres or walk. You can't expect the council to do everything for you. Unless you want them to wipe your arse as well?

Someone needs to invent some kind of road/pavement surface that doesn't let ice form on it.
Or councils need to install heating underneath all of the roads

Drive sensibly up a steep hill that is caked in shit. The only way up these braes is either for them to be clear or to have a run. The corners at the bottom make you slow down to atleast 10mph which isnt enough and the slightest increase in acceleration makes you wheel spin. Any faster and youll be sliding straight across into the adjacent pavement as there is no grip.

What I don't understand is that the 'sprinkler' isn't synced to the movement of the lorry. I saw one pull up at traffic lights today and it was spewing out the back. Revolutions should have stopped imho.
Seen the new ones with brine tanks on though?!

I have seen one gritter since this snow and it wasn't gritting when I saw it.
They haven't even bothered with main roads, the only reason it's half driveable on main roads is because tyres have worn down the snow..
I haven't had my bins emptied since monday 'cus of snow either. If I were to miss a council tax payment they'd add fines immediately but it's ok for them to miss my bin day and leave my with rubbish in my back garden and leave me unable to move my car to get to work? Fucking ridiculous. I'm gonna get thge missus to ring them up and try get discounted council tax seeing as we're paying it for nothing.
