Right I need your help please. My car went bang the other night and it was only last night I managed to get it recovered back to mine. Ive got half a tank of fuel which i want out of it so how do I do that? And because my car is off the road, my aunt has been kind enough to lend me her car until I find w new one, but I'm going to look at a new car on saturday so hopefully will only need it for a few days-week has anyone insured their car for a short period?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

e-car insurance do weekly, and there are day companies out there but all depends what car it is as to whether they will insure you.
to get the petrol out disconnect it from the filter and drain it that way, or if you are scrapping the car smash a hole in the bottom of the tank as it will be quicker.

It's only a little 1.25 Ford Fiesta, nothing sporty. So I should be okay then?

if its only a 1.25 is it worth going to the hassle of removing fuel? what is it 15 or 20 quids worth?

Just change your current insurance over onto the fiesta, and then to the new car when you have purchased it

If your aunt is insured on that car I don't think you can legally take your own policy out on it.

As for syphoning fuel. the £ shops normally sell the pumps. if not, abit of hose pipe and a bucket or petrol can/s then suck real hard until the first bits drops out.it will start a flow of fuel...or just put a screwdriver in the bottom of the tank

Removing fuel is simple.
Get an old car battery.Lift the rear seats up and locate the fuel pump.Now get 2 bits of speaker wire or the likes and put 1 bit from the + of the battery and + of the fuel pump.Do the same with the - part.
Then go under the bonnet and remove the fuel line that puts the petrol into the engine.Get a container and catch it while the car battery is pumping the pump.
Takes 5 mins.

...essentially he's earning it back. As it stands, he had spent the £20 & not used it, so it's wasted. If he can get the fuel out and use it in another car, that's £20 saved.

Won't work, as fuel is pumped out the top of the tank.
Best bet is take off the access panel and syphon it out.

Do this for the fuel, a few of my mates did this when we were breaking a 106 rallye, I ended up with loads of free fuel

@John: You're 100% correct with the insurance my aunt is already insured. True A plan which is day insurance they want £60 for 3days.  .
@Barnshaw: Think you read it wrong mate. My car is a 1.4 which has roughly 3/4 tank and I want that out and I was wanting to get insurance for the 1.250 fiesta for few days

The amount thats in the pipe still will come out, but since the fuel is pumped out the top it won't work.

swinton matey they r the cheapest my m8 is using them because he has been done over 3 - 5 times now with e-car they just cut his off in the middle of it and he had payed for that month :/
