I've just bought myself a payg blackberry 8520 to mess about with pretty much, my one question is I've put my iphone orange contract sim in it, the man in the shop seemed to think I wouldn't be able to use blackberry messenger if I did this. Is that true? Completely new to blackberry so

Yes true you need a blackberry services subscription which will be £5 onto of your bill and give you 500mb of data which on blackberries is tons as they compress the data and it's also only 2g.

ok cheers mate, that would essentially make my contract £40 a month then sucks, probably just set it up on the pay as you go sim, sucks a bit that you have to call to get the service activated, they're all "busy"

I got one as a second phone only last week, on the t mobile website they do a sim card where you top up a tenner and you get free internet, email and bbm for 6 months and then it's only 20 for 6 more months. No contract just pay an go.

Hmmm, I spoke to a girl last time and she was lovely enough to speak to and seemed helpful enough but why none of them seem to actually manage to set it up is beyond me!

I gave up in the end, found a t-mobile sim card lying around, chucked that in and got the 6months free blackberry Internet service, didn't even have to ring anyone, hardly believe they're the same company now :-/

They aren't the same company at all. They are owned by one parent company. Separate entirely
Can't believe you had so much trouble

You know I've been an orange customer for 11years and quite frankly I'm disgusted! They've always been great until the past few months since this merger. Recently I've had to wait hours for texts to come through, Internet is forever going down. Apart from a few problems connecting me initially in 1999 they've been faultless so I really do wonder what happened?
I'm in a 2year contract with them on my iPhone so can't leave them just yet

I love it mate, it's a cracking little phone for the money compared to what you would pay for an iPhone.
The only things I don't like is the browser is a bit pants, but I suppose I could try opera mobile as well, and the facebook app for it is a bit shite and doesn't do fb chat not that I ever use that!
The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to but I'm getting there!

I agree the browser is shocking, opera is good as you can have multiple tabs etc but it doesnt scroll as smoothly as the standard one.
